900 Gallon Reef Project

Oh my... I don't know what to say. The stand and everything is just amazing. What about the canopy? Will it be similar to the stand? What's next and when will the last phase take place?

The top of the area will be done in oak with some trim extending around the glass and down below the slate tiles. The next phase is going to be getting the LED lights installed, the mixing tanks plumbed and the live rock and livestock from my 200 gallon tank into its new home. Should be done in about 3 weeks.

That last group of vids is jaw dropping!

That really gives you some scale to this project.

It's HUGE!

You might wamt to take a look at http://www.aquariumwatertesting.com/

Thanks! I grabbed 12 tests. Also I noticed their handy little salt mix analysis PDF and it is making me rethink using Tropic Marin Reef Pro. I may switch back to regular TM at this point. Also I just ordered 6 liters of the Vertex Bio Pellets, going to try this solid vodka dosing stuff on my tank. I would have gone with the Dutch NP brand pellet but they seem to be sold out.

could you please post a link to the limestone you use in the tank. I love the look and would like to try it on a frag tank... Do you think the weight of the tile would destroy a drilled back wall or would it hold the weight?

No the tile would not damage the back wall. the tile sticks to the glass with silicon and the weight of the tile is minimal. You would have to drain the tank, dry it out and then clean it really well with a razor and acetone. Also once you get the tile installed, I would let the tank sit in fresh water for a few days and then drain it to remove any particulate. I will get you a link to the exact item I used, we picked it up in Florida.

So I got very excited looking in the fuge today. Thought I was watching some pods running around covered in diatoms, turns out I have planaria in the fuge, which means I probably have it in the DT as well. Any ideas on how to kill these things without chemicals? I have heard rumors that the small blue and yellow damsels eat them. If not I will probably have to wait till the tank cycles and get some wrasses in the fuge. :mad2:

I heard a sixline wrasse or a red scooter blennie. It is best to get it under control quick. Those bastards multiply fast. I had to use flatworm exit in my nano. They die in just a few minutes from the FW exit. But then when they die they release a toxic chemical. So you got to suck up all the dead bodies and run carbon. I would take care of it before you add any fishies. Is there anyway to just treat just the fuge so the chemicals will not reach your DT? And then do a large water change in the fuge?

I still have a few hundred pounds to go from my 210 in Florida, looks like our animal install date is 7/24! Now I just need to deal with these damn flatworms in the fuge.
