900 Gallon Reef Project

Wow! I'm definately tagging along on this build. The limestone was a great idea, especially with the 48 inch depth. Looks fantastic!

Just a quick update, electrical drops and the fish room subpanel are going in starting today as well as the water line for the water cooled chiller. The 3 main pumps (2 closed loop and 1 main return) came in over the weekend with the chiller.

The poly sump (84x32x32) is coming in early this week along with Deltec Skimmer. I am going to post some equipment pictures up some time this week and a basic layout of how I want the aquascaping done.

In terms of aquascaping I am really looking to do:

1. A sloping "reef wall" starting on the right side of the tank.

2. Two "canyons" where the two 6" lap joints sit.

3. A large island on the left side of the tank, by the mitered panel.
d
I want to leave plenty of room for fish to swim behind all the structures.

Looks like the schedule coming up is to start the remaining plumbing and getting the fish room setup and the lighting hooked up starting on 5/23 through 5/27.

This beast should have its first fresh water test on 5/28. Aquascaping, refugium/coral grow out build, the backup generator and the QT setup should happen the first/second week of June.

Thanks for all the support everyone!

LOve your Tank and Jeff is a great guy was wondering if stone veneers from Lowes would be safe also to use in a tank that will be freshwater. Good luck with this awesome build!

I would never put anything in the tank unless I knew what it was made of and how it was going to interact with the water chemistry. If you can find something that is made of limestone, I dont see how it could be a problem. Thanks for the feedback!

Tagging along.

Do you have a list of all the products you used?

This is awesome! I'm dying to see it all done. The limestone was a great idea and I love the shape.
