900 Gallon Reef Project

Okay its been a while since I posted an update. So the transfer of rock/fish/corals from Florida went off without a hitch. The fuge and coral grow out are setup and looking great. I think I have stabilized the situation with my water tests and am in the process of boosting calcium as it is still a bit low.

The lights are now setup over the tank and it looks great, I still probably have
to purchase 2 more units to provide the coverage that I need. I am still waiting on the Kalk stirrer and the Calcium reactor to come in.

Current stock list:

1 Powder blue tang
1 Lipstick Naso
1 Chevron Tang
1 Purple Tang
1 Foxface
1 Orange Shouldered Tang
1 Hippo Tang
3 Lyretail Anthias
1 Copperband Butterfly
2 Sixline Wrasse
5 Royal Gramma
2 Pearl Jawfish
6 Neon Gobies
6 Twinspot Gobies
1 Longnose Hawkfish
25 Green Chromis
20 Cleaner Shrimp
10 Blood Shrimp
5 Monkey shrimp (green camel)

I think I am approaching the limit bioload/fish wise, I have room for maybe 3 more tangs (Gem, Fowlers and Unicorn) and 1 angel (last fish I will add). Ill post up a video of the setup tonight.

Wow I love this build, my better half said not in this house. I think it is time to build the house and wrap the tank build into it.

Please post pictures I love your set up so far.

that is the only way i got my tank built, as part of the remodel.

Did you get your silicate problem figured out? Believe it or not, I had silicate problems with Tropic Marin. I thought it was the best, but my tank never looked worse than when I ran TM. I have since switched to Coralife and won't ever look back. I have used almost all the major salt brands out there and Coralife has been the best for me.

BEAUTIFUL tank and great design. Can't wait to see updated pictures.

Make sure to select the 720P option!

Sweet set-up! I saw that you are going to add angel, keep your eye on what I think I saw in the video to be Acans. I haven't had luck with large angels and acans. Again nice set-up!

Nice tank, that crushed coral is to large for those twin spots though.

Its not quite crushed coral, and they have plenty of oolitic sand below to play with. They constantly have 1-2 inch deep areas dug out all over the place. I have about 6 in the tank and they are all doing well. The one area over by the mitered edge had to be done in much larger 1 inch pieces of rubble to prevent the sand from blowing all over.

What type of lights do you have on the main tank? in the post earlier you show T-5's in a box but in the last video you mentioned something about 18 ft of LED's and on the glass reflection it looks like LED's in a round pattern and a long strip.

Looks like I am getting the first run of these:

Stay tuned for the launch of the A103AC. This model, like the A102, will feature bulbs that are similar to Cree XP-G, and have a unique 75 degree angle lens on the side LED "strips" to increase the spread of the light. (Center LED "circles" will feature 55 degree lenses, and the A102AC will have 55 degree lenses on all LEDs). This powerful LED fixture will have enough output to meet the lighting needs of the most demanding SPS corals. In addition, a redesigned controller will allow the user to customize the intensity level of the white, blue, and moon light in all light stages. A new and improved tank mounting bracket system will increase the flexibility of mounting options and allow hobbyists to tailor fit the light to their needs. Pricing for the A103AC is $625 per foot. Further details will be announced on our site shortly!

If you click the link http://www.acanlighting.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=111&catid=1&Itemid=81 you can see what the A102 looks like, the A103 is an upgraded model. Also there is a link to Sanjay's review of the lights in comparison to Halides, T5s and another model of LED lighting. The KR92 is identical to the A102 :

Man what can I say that has not been said......Now that you have all of those fish in there you can get a better perspective on how big this tank really is..How will your water changes and dosing work with something that big? I am assuming your putting this old water in the municipality water waste system and not a sand mound septic system.
