Well no, I woiuld assume they sent me the correct replacement pump. I actually thought the 9005. 9010, and the 9015 shareed the same pump.
How would I tell the difference.?
The impeeller is the one that came with this pump, it all came as complete unit

Ok, it's the 9010, 9015, and 9020 that share pumps/housings.. Where are the part #'s located , I'll check to make sure I don't have the 9005 pump. Do you want a picture of the impeller the next time I pull the pump out ?

The pump will have a sticker on it that says 9005.040 or 9010.040. A 9005 impeller is smaller and the motor is weaker. Do you have your old impeller for comparison?

No, I don't have the old impeller, the entire unit was sent back as part of the exchange. I'll pull the pump aain later today and look for a sticker. What is a replacement imperller worth ?
BTW, after another 24 hrs, still no skimate to really report. Foam seems t build up to the top of the tube, but then just collapses, builds back up , collapses, over and over. Not a whole lot makes it over the top to be collected

The impellers run about $10, I am at a loss as to why it doesn't work, it would be very rare for a new pump to not be correct if the label is correct. If I recall you run it in sump correct? I was wondering if just for arguments sake if you could try it in tank or better yet in another tank to rule out any issues with chemistry or installation? Short of that I think I would have to see the skimmer, there are just so many small variables from plastic casting fragments blocking a line to a undersize impeller or any combination of very small problems. I would be willing to look at it if you would pay shipping.

I haven't pulled the simmer out yet to check the pump, will do it this weekend. I kinda doubt that they sent me the wrong pump, and I agree, if the pump is correct it's even more unlikely that the impeller is incorrect.
I have consdiered try8ing it "in tank" but would have to make room which is why I haven't done so yet. Being that it is in a constant 10.5"s of water, I 've thought about removing the standpipe and front intake panel and trying it that way as well.
If I can't get this working, I will probably ship it off to you and let you
Thanks for all your help thus far Roger, I really appreciate ithave a look at it

Ok, its labled 9010-04a, so obviously it's the correct pump. I was actiually hoping it was wrong, this has been so frustrating that I wish I could just find an answer.
Any chance you have any of those older (larger) impellers left Roger ? I wouldn't mind giving one of them a try

ok, well add me to the " waiting list" . Will you let me know if you get some in or should Ii keep checking with you from week to week ?
