they have them on ebay for pretty cheap ,

but there are two kidns of the hang on prizm skimmers, which is better, the older oen , or the newer black colored one

Prism skimmers suck for everything except very small tanks. A 55 with a heavy feeder would not do to well with one. Try an euro reef or something equivilent. Do not skimp on skimmers!

a protien skimmer over $100 bucks is out of the question right now I guess ill get the prizm , and do water changes

Not a good idea. Do invest in a skimmer. While water changes are good, a high quality skimmer is essential if you want to keep octos. Im not sure what the curcumstances are that you cant get one, but if you have to just wait, you will thank yourself later. Try an AguaC Remora.

cheapest one i can find is over $180 bucks, I dont want to pay over 100 for a skimmer ,

the octo is 60 by the time i pay for shipping and all , then I have to buy 200 gallon mix of salt for future water changes, , I already have one filter, but i would like to get a larger one lol

man , y does this hobby have to be so expensive lol
