A BRAZILIAN SPS Tank of Carlinhos - pics

Hi Andre,

youÃ"šÃ‚´re right. In the new tank he is using DSB.

Do you know why he went with DSB? Do you know what he is supplementing? Any additives? Feed his corals?

Hi Folks

Part of these pictures were taken by me. There is no additives, except the elements provided by Calcium reactor with Tunze midia. Only the Duncanopsamia coral is regularly feed.

Once, he told me that preferred DSB because is more natural than Jaubert. Also, in his old reef the substrate used on Jaubert looks like dirty.

THanks Vini!

Im trying to understand how his tank got extremely full in a yrs time. Did he buy more corals this size? Does he have excellent growth? Do you have pics of when he first set it up? Thanks!

Hi Folks,

The Corals of Carlinhos is realy big, but many of these corals growed in his old tank.

The tank realy look awesome, I saw with my own eyes :-)

I think that a lot of people just donÃ"šÃ‚´t know how jaubert works.....If you use jaubert, you canÃ"šÃ‚´t add calcium in the system and you canÃ"šÃ‚´t put a lot o SPS...

Also, how do you guys thinks about 1,6 years without any water change ? Yeap, Carlinhos didnÃ"šÃ‚´t do any water change in the last year.

Regards

Roberto

These are the first pics of his new tank !! Most of the SPS had growed in his old tank and were transfered for the new one.

Hi there,

hey brazilians what's the hell are you doing here at ReefCentral?? lol just kidding:eek1: . God, Carlinhos has been keeping such an awsome reef I've ever seen !!! Congratulations brazilian man...
By the way, I'd like to know why Carlinhos hasn't posted a reply yet?!!

the last Carlinho's tank, that we've just seen at those pics, was it made by himself? I don't really know exactly, but I've heard once that he makes aquariums and so...

Hey CarlosAndre...

I do not agree with this sentence you wrote:

I'm from Brazil and we have a few beautiful tanks... not a lot

here in Brazil we do have many beautiful reef tanks and we do have lots of SPS tanks too. :rolleye1:

Can you show us pics of those SPS tanks? :) Thanks!!

I think thats its a critical request. I dont know much SPS tanks here, maybe Igor know. Lets wait a little bit.

Hi Bob, i didnt understand your joke ??

Marcello, the short answer, Edward keeps showing only individual pictures of his corals & a legion of RC users have tried in vain for him to post a full tank picture. BTW, we are very impressed with the Brazilian reefs that have been featured on this thread. Thnx. Bob

MSHUR,

people say that the Carlinhos's reef hasn't seen a water change for more than a year and a half. I cannot tell you whether it's true or false... Anyway, maybe it's true !!!

Marcelo Salles,

Well, maybe it's beucase you live in Rio de Janeiro. I've already seen a great number of SPS tanks around here (Sao Paulo). By the way, you can check out the link above where you gonna find a store who sells those hard corals.

SPS for sail

woow.... they have just received a large number of SPS, Acropora and Montipora from Hawai, Fiji, Solomon and Bali. So, if the import many SPS to Brazil, it's means that here are many people who purchase them... Otherwise, they would never import these type of corals which are too much expensive. :D

see ya,
IGOR.

I wouldnt pay for a coral alledged to be from Hawaii...Hawaii has a ban on harvesting Corals from its waters...and has had one for the past 20 years at least. If it is a coral found in Hawaii, and you have it your tank (and you're in Hawaii) you're facing a huge fine....
Now to be fair, there are about a 100 little islands in the Hawaiian island chain, and its only the state of Hawaii, (Oahu, Hawaii, Kauai, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and Niihau which isnt really occupied since the military uses it for a bombing range) which has the ban on coral collection.

Not trying to argumentative, just would hate for someone to pay more for a rare "Hawaiian" coral when they cant be harvested, much less exported.

You're tanks are beautiful by the way.

Nick
