A few of my SPS

Good News!! Looks like my SSC is making a recovery and making a comeback from the "bacterial infection" after the Furan dips.
Areas I assumed were dead are starting to color up again.

I am really digging the way this piece is turning out - minty green base, blue polyps & pink tips. :smokin:

The rainbow monti was getting out of hand and encroaching on several acro colonies so I showed it who's boss with a muriatic acid treatment.

Moved this piece up front to color back up under the MH's - should be pretty much all purple. Browned out a bit in the rear of the tank.

+1!
Glad your SSC is coming back greg and the first coral of your weekly favorites is crazy!
Those side pics are awesome too:inlove:

At what mode do you run your vortechs?

Thanks Mike - I think I might do another Furan dip but the SSC appears to be on the mend.
I run the Vortechs on Lagoon mode and have 2 of the MP60's on a random wave cycle. I run the MP60's at only about 65% or they suck air down from the surface and blow too hard for some of the corals.

Happy for the SSC!:)
The laggon mode always heated mine vey much,so i've never used it for a long period.
Thanks for the reply!

Very interesting about the ssc and furan! Glad to see it worked! Very nice.
Love those favs of the week. What type of coral do you suppose that first shot is?

Good to hear Greg, you can definitely see the pigment returning to those affected areas. I too am really digging the way that minty base acro is turning out. :)

Glad you showed that monti the sharp end of the stick mate, you know it's just taking up acro space.........;)

They do run pretty hot - I never equated it to that particular mode. What mode are you running yours at?

Thanks - yes Furan is interesting stuff. The first pic you are asking about is acropora plana.

Thanks Biggles - it's too bad that monti is so invasive - it is rather pretty but not worth risking my acros over.

I always switch between constant(50-60%) and reef crest, greg!
Especially on reef crest it doesn't get hot at all.
Don't know if heat could shorten pump's life or something else but i try not to find out:p

I almost consider montis a pest too:)
Especially the encrusting ones!
If i do try one again it will be placed far far away from my main scape,in a separate small rock:)

Thanks I think I'll try the reef crest setting and see what it does.

You might want to try the 'more bloody pics' setting while you're at it Greg................ :)

:lmao::lol::lmao:
I just got a new camera but am having a hard time getting the actual picture to look like what I am seeing in the viewer. It is making me feel pretty stupid :debi:

Whenever you feel bad about your photo skills greg, check my thread....it will make you feel much better buddy:p
You'll feel like the king of photography after that:)

Which camera is it? I swear probably half the people in the SPS forum have really good SPS colours but cannot show the colours well because of the photography. [Of course Biggles dabbles in extreme photoshopping practices and food colouring. :p ]

Just saw in another thread that you bought a Nikon camera. Let me know which model and I will throw a few pointers your way if you like.

Thanks for support guys. The camera is a Nikon d3200 - nothing fancy but smarter than me. I bought the display model on a discounted price at Costco on a whim - not sure this is the right camera for me.
