A few of my SPS

Loved the video Greg, those gorgonians looked super cool moving in the current. Always marvel at the sheer number of fish that live on and within the reefs. :)

awesome video Greg! Looks like you're having a fun trip
I had a great time, glad you liked the video.

Cool video! So many eels and octopus, thanks for that.
Thanks, yes there a lot of eels in that area.

Nice! Octopus have to be one of the absolute coolest creatures on this planet.
They are extremely cool. The camera only picked up a small portion of the flashes they were doing.

Thanks Andrew, it's sometimes a challenge not getting blown around to get decent shots in that much current. :jester: Puerto Vallarta is no Great Barrier Reef but for me it's way closer so it will have to do. I also enjoy all the varieties of gorgs in PV and those white feathery looking things are a fire coral that grows in the area and although they looks delicate they pack a mean punch.

Watched the entire thing last night and enjoyed it.

I'm not callin' is sick, I'm callin' in gone.
Thanks for watching, I know it is a big time commitment. I had 168 video clips I shot and had a hard time editing stuff out. And of course I missed a lot of really great "Kodak moments" because the battery died during most of my 2nd tank dives.
Looking forward to the day I call in gone! ;)

Man was it ever a mistake adding the file fish to my reef - darn things won't touch the mojanos but sure like corals. Here is what happened to my golden sunset mille over the past 2 weeks while I was away.

On a brighter note although the color has dulled while I was away (been a month since the last water change) this SSC has almost completely healed from the bacteria infection it's had for the past 1.5 years.

That file fish obviously needs a timeout in the freezer compartment Greg.....

I remember how bad that SSC piece looked before you treated it for the infection mate. It's growing well now by the looks of the latest pic, still has a couple of weird colored tips that will color over soon enough  What was the treatment you gave that acro again please mate, i'm pretty sure it's better than my throw it out the back door technique. :rolleye1:

Ouch!!!!!
Mine has yet to touch an aptasia or an sps, but I've already watched him dive head first into one of my favias...
There will be an aqua scape redo scheduled if he starts going for the acros...

That shortcake recovery really is amazing. It has completely grown over the affected spot.
Nice call on that one, Greg. That's one of the reasons you're a double totm. Fantastic instincts.
Just for interest sake, you should put up a before and after comparison shot

I tried a file fish and while it was an intersting fish did nothing as far as pest control. My CBB on the other hand is a true assassin :)

Yeah I think it's time for another dip in Furan-2

Ouch is right!! I compounded the file fish mistake by adding two of them. :hammer:

I can't take any credit for figuring out the problem - I had a message from a reefer on another board saying he thought it might be bacterial so I decided to give the Furan-2 a try because I had heard that some people were using it as an RTN remedy.

Good idea for a SSC sequence.

After looking at the last pic again it looks like there is some infection that has come back so I will be doing another dip ASAP.

I've tried CBB's but in my experience they won't touch mojanoes

Here's a few pix from last night. Some things in the tank have colored down because I hadn't done a water change for 5 weeks so I won't show those. :worried:
Darn wrasses and tangs get sand everywhere - I need to turkey baste the corals again.

Wow, looking good. I know I'd like to see some brown corals, being the relative newbie that I am. Any idea what the water change does to color them back up? Nutrient reduction or trace elements?

Great colors ever

what Id is this?

Water change = nutrient reduction + trace elements. So yeah both but the nutrient levels are the biggest contributor to lack of color.

Beauty!!
Continues to be a ridiculous tank!!
Thank you much

I believe it is a acropora tenuis as well and this variety has very little polyp extension but is an interesting color.

Nice pics! Everything is looking really good. You've got such an amazing variety of corals, always nice to see pics from you

Oh my, what a sight to come home to

Thanks, would have been an even better sight if the return pump in my prop system hadn't died while I was away. Lost some beauties waiting for their chance to shine in the display. Now I need to try and find another Oregon Tort for one.
