Just backing up Justinl. Mantises do need Iodine but there is more than enough in any diet you feed it.

So if I go to the supermarket and get a bag of frozen shrimp, and scallops I can thaw them stick them on some long tweezers and hand feed these little guys. THAT'S AWSOME!

Yup that's the idea! nice isn't it? Just make sure to read the ingredients if you buy the packaged stuff. It has to be uncooked shrimp/scallop/squid with no preservatives/additives/other. It's also easy to buy the fresh caught shrimp they sell at a quay or something (if it's easy for you to get to a quay). take off the heads and throw them in the freezer and that's all.

on nano-reef I see people who are keeping mantis shrimp in a 2.5g aquarium is this possible???

Possible, but not recomended. The water would foul up very quickly. and 2.5 gallons is 2.5 gallons too small for most mantises as it is.

agreed. If you care about your mantis (which you should!) you won't keep it in such a wee tank. They do like to swim and feel comfortable with more space. and 5g just works as the minimum for the smallest of mantises. remember people, just because it fits, it doesn't mean it's gonna be happy!
