Well its yesterdays tomorrow right now and Im stll working. My eyeballs look like 2 boiled eggs. Actually im too lazy and to tired to look in a mirror so Im just guessing. Most likely more like 2 p#ss holes in a snow bank.
Getting ready to run wire. Yes Ive been up sice 4:00 A.m. and its now 12:40 a.m. the next day but hey its for the fish!
Oh yea I got Bronchitis just to add that little bit of drama into the whole thing. Im on some pretty good meds so this is gonna get interesting.
What we got tonight is your basic recipe for a Emergency room visit all bundled up in a free sight for your amusement. They love me up there at the hospital. Im the guy who gets sh#t dug out of his eyeball once or twice a year. Were on a first name. Oh yea and I ate some poison mushrooms once too. They treat you alittle differnt when they see that on your chart lol..Long story...
Time to face the beast. Im goin in!!!!

Thats dedication right there.... sounds like your gettin all the fixins takin care of. I'll be down next week, you can come help me set up mine then lol. I already did the whole run electric threw the attic at 130 degrees, and I feel your pain being 6' 2 myself. I pick up the beast monday following the 4th and i got everything i need except PVC to plumb it. I got a new RO/DI to make water, Tropic Marin Pro-Reef salt (400 gallons worth), Sequence Reefflow dart for my return and a 65 gallon acrlylic sump made to my specs from glasscages. Once I get all that up and running I'm going to let it run till i get back in 3 weeks when I bring the livestock, tunzes, all my lights, calcium reactor, and UV sterilizer. This is going to be some crazy fun. Hey stacker, interested in a crazy mean damsel, he'd make a good watchdog.

Wheeeeww. I finished up my drops this morning just got my carcas out of bed lol. Im feelin mighty low.
Not as bad as I figured it was gonna be. Didnt get the PVC run though that stinks. Droped the can of cement and that was that.
I only suffered 1 puncture wound which is a new record for me. I was stealthy like a cat up there lol. One wrong step Id end up coming thru the master bed room and busting my can. Id say the worst is over.

lol, I know what you mean, not like the actics they build up here, one wrong move and through the drywall you go. I had to run new plugs from the room to a separate fuse on my box so I would have my own circuit. Its also hooked up to a backup generator so if the power ever fails, you just flip a switch and you in bussiness.

The good news this morning is that my pink birdsnest has stopped receding. I fraged it down to about 30 percent left last night and it took care of it. What started a 8 by 13 inch colony became an 8 by 4 inch colony. Thats what i get for wanting to grow massive size pieces and never wanting to frag things i guess. I really don't know what caused it, maybe lack of flow on the tight branches from being so big.... who knows.

I now have everything i need to setup my tank, including the sump and salt. I ended up ordering a 65 gallon acrylic sump so that should take care of my needs in that department. Still looking for a cheap chiller but that will take time. just 7 more days till I get my tank, can't wait.

How long did you have it? Thats why you shouldnt be buying large colonies. They grow in such a way that they are perfectly suited to the environment they originally lived in. When you move it to another tankw ith totally different conditions, it is likely to die off at least a little.

He just can't help himself Mike.. Like a kid in a candy store or a fat kid with a cupcake. LOL

I'm soooo glad my ghetto tank continues to kick a$$ and take names. When all you big money, big colony, and big frag guys get done throwing money away you might want to start paying attention to what works rather than bling. Then again what do I know, I've only been doing this for 25+ years.

I'll post some new pix of my tank in the next couple days so you can see what healthy coral looks like... :)

lol you guys crack me up... I dont think i didn't anything to spawn the event, nothing else is suffering in the tank. I've had the colony for about 8 months now so i highly doubt it just realized it wasn't the same conditions as before. And as I said, it grew to almost double the size over that course of time, i think it was just a sudden RTN event becuase it started on one branch and then just ran away from the bottom up. The colony is still bigger than any colony you'd find at a LFS let alone in most peoples systems. LOSERS

25 plus years Dale, your right you should have learned something by now

Well I assure you that it didnt happen because the branches grew in such a way that flow wasnt getting to the coral. That would be like me growing a gun out of my head that shoots me.

Excuses...excuses. always gott ablame someone or something. i bet it was hair gel poisining! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

BTW, I have learned alot. and forgotten more than some will EVER know. ;)

well the good news is its less to ship the 1300 miles that is just over a month away from me :p I'll have to get a whole lot of pics of the new tank and equipment as I'm in the setup process next week. Have a good fourth, try not to get to drunk and fall into that beast of a BBQ I'm sure you'll be cooking on.

Hey Jamokie, a gun that shoots yourself ehh, your creativity leads me to believe that the only mushrooms around your house aren't in that reeftank you set up. :eek1:

Yup, you be good too! We're partying with friends and I actually won't be cooking anything but braincells!!! I likes it! I did cook for 50 on Sat. for my neice's wedding party but it was just chicken ribs and bricket.

So much for being done in the attic. I cut to the chase and knocked out a wall with a sawz-all and a sledge hammer. lol..
You know theres something about taking a wall down that always makes me smile. Its the rush of male hormones, or the sound of the saw ripping thru the living room. I just love that look on my wifes face. Dust flying sh#t falling all over her precious doylies and nick nack bullsh$t. LOl...Its glorious..Like goin to church for me.
No turning back now. I had to relocate my doorbell but for the mean time its just dangling from its wire from the ceiling lol....So when you ring it instead of going "DING DONG" It goes KA-DINK-DINK" LOL... I played with that for a few minutes before I swatted it off the wire with a ball peen hammer lol. Looking for a bell that sounds like a Rottweiler when you hit the button lol..

Lol, Fun is not telling your wife what your doing then as shes baking cookies in the kitchen a 2 ft saw bladed comes screaming thru the wall lol...
I got vaulted ceilings throughout the house and I got tired of chasing wires so I just took some wall out. Anyone else would have done the same. Makes everything so much nicer and now I can do whatever I need to without having to go up and down back and forth 50 times.
Next I plumb.
Not sure I kinda like the whole free access idea. I might knock a hole thru the office closet and re-drywall that too. Im trying to be delicate but Im getting impatient with all the obstacles of the simple stuff. I just want to get it done.
The patience can come in when Im doing the actual tank setup. I say "Who needs a doorbell anyhow?" rap some knuckles if you need me that bad ya know?
So what alittle dust some smoke, maybe a fire alarm goin off here and there keeps everyone involved at a whole differnt level.

Lol yea i had a whole assortment of hammers lying about the house. Mini-sledge was reserved for taking out the wall studs lol... I call it the persuader. Beer, well I dont drink beer anymore at least if I can help it. Takes me 55 beers to get a buzz and by then I usually run out of time.

lol. I'm glad i don't have the problems your having. All i have to do is run a wire 30 feet and call it a day. Plumbing will be easy too. Its all right there at my fingertips.

55 beers!! I'd be in a coma :p

Oh yea Im hating all this non- essential wiring and crap. I should take some pics so you can get the scope of the issues at hand but I never think of it. Besides, pics just document my laziness more than progress lol.

Ill be so much better off when I do this though I just have to keep that in mind. I could get away without doing what Im doing but that would make all my filtering and electircal jumbled up under my stand and I absolutely refuse to be hunched down climbing around in there doing maintenance. Thats my trouble now. I hate it. If I take what I have now add more equipment to it and scale everything to a 290 gal tank 90 gal fuge and a 40 gal QT. all under a cabinet Ill go insane.
No room. I gotta do this or I might as well not bother at all. Im basically laying a good foundation for a dedicated fish room out in my garage. I just dont have enough electrical where the tank is going to "Safely" plug in all the equipment.. Now I could string about 4 extension chords and do the job but that will look nasty. Or as Stacker says "Ghetto" lol.
Then the plumbing is just relocating the pumps from the stand closer to the fuge and the return lines. I plan on running an Ocean Motion 4-way C.L. too so I may keep a pump under the stand for that and run the return and the skimmer out in the garage. Heat is going to be my biggest concern but If I do everything I plan too Im just gonna T-off a vent from the AC into my room out in the garage and that should do it.
My garage is allready insulated except for gargage door which can easily be done in the future but it stays fairly cool in there now compared to the outside.

Before I can get to the meat and taters of the whole thing I have a ventilation system in my garage for painting. I have to climb up and remove the stack and Im gonna replace that with a solar powered roof vent. Take the juice from that and run it down the wall to power my pumps. Then Im building a SS hood vent relocating the ventilation system to the back of the house in my screened room for a outdoor kitchen hood. After that I want to replace the powered roof vent in the back of my house with a solar one and use the juice from that to run the vented hood Im building.
Its alot of work in the attic.. Im in no hurry to do all this but its started so I got a leg up on it. Id like to do the bulk of the work this winter when its cool up there. I can do 90% of the work in a days time but not when its this hot up there. hardest thing will be re-installing the vent system. All this and I havent got the tank yet eithier. As far as the 55 beers,.....thats a tolerance that takes years to build up lol...I boast no other great achievements worth posting lol..
