Ya, no deposit here either.... I'd move or really boost my homebrew production if I had to pay 10 cents a bottle... sheesh! I make wine from leftover juice from a couple wineries up at the lake and have made a few decent Cab's from California juice. Paul's family owns a winery (he posts here now and again) and they turn out a top notch Cab. Daigo red and zin suck as fars as I'm concerned, it I'm gonna drink wine it's gonna be good wine... Just my .02 I like any beer that 's free, but prefer anything that's a full brew (light isn't beer) and the hoppier the better!

Speaking of fish.... I might go wet a line tonite if all works out! there are a few crappies and bass just itchin' to attack my spinnerbait! Haven't fished all year, I think it's time! I've been so busy that when I do have free time I spend it vegging!

Hey I spent 20 years piddling with tanks to get where Im at in this hobby I deserve the big tank. If I was single id be able to swim in my tank but ergo my other half keeps me in a safe sane size by attrition so be it. I buy alot of used equipment to save on the B#tch factor but she thinks thats too much too anyhow.
I pace it out so its not a big hit. The tank and the skimmer I want is gonna be the big hit she isnt ready for lol...
Who knows I might not even need a chiller but i got it just in case. My brew is Cabernet I leave it run out dry too. I use a Cab. yeast and cut the sugar back and leave it ferment out just to the point its got the highest Alc. content you can get without turning bitter and then rack it off...My house smells like a winery actually lol.. First thing I did to my house was put up a Wine rack in fact lol...
The local winery uses Muscadine grapes same elevation as Bordueax France so they say. Its not too bad they dont age but all in all they do decent for a local. Alot of wineries here, been to a few. All sugary sweet crap made from everything but grapes. Not my idea of wine. I cant even drink its so sweet.
These people I work all go out every weekend fishing on the big pond so opportunity is always there Im just too busy right now to go.
Ive put off too much for too long with half project here and half project there. I owe some customers some design work Ive totally ignored. My fish stand lurks in the shadows, Im building a custom hood for my outdoor kitchen, I got drywall to do, Chillers looking at me now, Slurpee machine is all torn down, Im addng brick pavers to the yard, the list goes on and on...No time to fish for me. Hard enough to keep up with the lawn these days. Now I gotta make a custom shroud for this chiller cuz the plastic POS shroud is raggety and nasty. Geezus. I really cant find time to pay attention. So many things goin on at once I come to work to relax. Oh yea today 1:00 that machine i was yammering about goes up for the dog and pony lol...Ill have to attend that. Should be about a 5 min demo before the arm snaps off and flyout into the crowd lol... Never the less not my design and my boss took off to DC for the week to avoid the fallout "Nice move". Real confidence there eh? He bails when the heats on lol...Says alot right there. What does Apastasia farmer do for work? I wish I had your shop righ t about now. I need all this custom crap doen and have to rely on these boobs here to get it done. Making life miserable for me. I do kitchen table designs at night for all kinds of stuff but to getting things made I have to bribe, pull strings, make promises you name it. Mostly the SS crap cuz I have to use the company break press and shear. I got alot of money in the wind in material for my personal stuff I need. Be nice to have someone else local to get multiple projects going at the same time that way I just drop off the prints and pick up the product instead of having to hand feed the shop part by part piece by piece. I get side jobs all the time, stuff I turn away. I could run my own shop if I had the mind to do it. Just got one today for an outside kitchen cabinet made out of SS. Rich old woman wants to put in a mini bar next to her outdoor grill. Sure. can do....lol..I truly am a whore. I need a vacation.....

One day I'm gonna dos a tuna charter.... Don't much care for eating many of the other gamefish.. and a 80 lb. tuna is like reeling in a train! One and done! Back to drinking!

Lol, Tuna charter would be nice. I hauled in a 4 ft king this year and thought I was gonna die. Chased it around the boat for 30 minutes. You wanna fight get ahold of a 200 lb Amber Jack. I have what I now call Amber Jack Elbow. Not to be confused with tennis elbow.
Thing beat me up literally. I havent been right since. Her I am minding my own buisiness taking a cold one in then before you could say boo Wham I get nailed and down the rod she went. Game on. It was all I could do to keep the rod from goin over. Bent that sucker like a banana and the line peeled off like it was freespooling. LOL oh man that was a rush and a heart attack at the same time. Tuna would be fun but its over Im out for the count after that. I landed a grouper this year that I couldnt budge off the rocks too that was cool. 80lb line gave me a 5min. fight I soon wont forget. B@stard just went sideways and dead weight on me. Felt like i was pullin up an engine block then the line snapped and the rod about busted my teeth out lol.
Oh well the one that got away...

Like to go diving but Im not certified. Been meaning to do that one day before they dirt nap me.

I caught 13 bass in about 1 hr. lastnight. Big one was about 4 lb. and the smallest was pretty damn small to be eating a bnig old spinnerbait. Only sale water fish I've caught was specks and one very surprised cuda.... DAMN if that shrimp didn't bite back! LOL giggest fish was a 50" Muskie and 30 lb. catfish. Pretty generic but i mainly fish the local ponds where I don't need to rig a boat or fight for a spot to fish... Ahhhh!

Awesome, I was there in spirit. Ole Muskie with that mouth full of teeth lol.. Never caught one myself but I landed some nice pike ice fishing on the great lakes.
I was in Pompano a month ago snorkeling this mini reef and a school of baracuda came right up to me. I was about 20 yards from a huge mother of a cuda.

Scared the B'Jesus out of me. I was so close to it I could see the white in its eye. Needless to say I did a 180 Scooby Doo move and kicked it into high gear back to shore. They feed in schools & there was several. First I saw 2 mullet go past my mask like within 10 ft of me didnt even pay me any attention like I wasnt even there. SO I think to myself oh cool look at the little Mullet.
Little did I know they werent just swimming past me they were runnning for there lives lol.... From now on when the Mullet run I run lol...
I got a lake in my back yard literally. Never fish it. Its shallow and grassy. Well its called Grassy Lake so that says it all lol. Used to be some nice Bass swimming in it. We had drought about 5 years ago you could take 4 x4 right across it. Then just to ruin the lake completley the local losers would wade out into the last remaining deep hole of it and catch all the fish that congregated in the remaing refuge of the deepest hole. That depleted the fish and now theres nothing worth catching. After the Hurricanes its full again but nothing but gators, snakes, and turtles and frogs in it. Its sand bottom too and clear as glass. Oh well I got turned of fresh water around here. Heard too many stories about pollution from the orange groves in most of the inland lakes. Soem of the spring feds are awesome though. Crystal River, Weikiva River, Silver River all crystal clear and hold monster fish. Bass 10-12 pounds, Talapia, Speck or as you call them Crappie, Blue gill, Red ears, all grow enormous in those rivers. Garr Pike get so big they scare ya.

Specks are speckled trout. We call crapies, crappies or Blue Ears. Ive only been salt-water fishing once and caught so many fish I was sore for 3 days. Id rather bowfish for drum and gar and gators I spoze. It would be nice to go out and catch a few nice size eaters for fresh dinner chow tho when I felt like it.... Eatin fish gets old fast and I need to take breaks from walleys and perch and grouper. Goto crabs and shellfish, then maybe a tuna steak or salmon. Good fish also makes good sushi! Oh ya!

Specks here is Speckled Perch which is what Black Crappie look like back home but smaller there than here. Blue ears or Blue gill. Red ears are Blue gills with red Spot instead of blue.http://floridafisheries.com/Fishes/panfish.html Check it out.

Sushi with fresh Ahai Tuna is the bomb. Im hooked on Oysters. Cant get enough of those things. Small here on though. West coast they look like a cows lung here they are maybe the size of a baseball tops. I usually throw 1 good party at my house where I buy a bussel of them which is approx. 10 dz. giver take. We do a fish and game feed for the friends and family. Last year my buddy brought Buffalo and Elk steaks, Did some deep fried Turkey, Wild boar, Deer Roast. Even had pheasant last year. My boss went to Iowa and did a bird hunt came back with 50 birds. I brought out the catch for the year and the Oysters and we did it proper.
Game on the tube women cackling in the Kitchen (where they belong) lol... Its a good time. Eat like kings lol... Usually do it just before the holidays.

Breem... punkin'seeds, red ears, blue ears, slabbies... crap-eez, craw-peez, blue cats, mud cats, greencats (flatheads), leopard cats (channel). Grass pike (chain pickerel), snakefish (gar)...what else? Bucket mouth (Largemouth), smallies, warlords... huskies, goose grabbers... And I've hears others but can't remember 'em all.

Same here, we do a clambake (mussels, clams, oysters, craw-dadz, crabs) in the late summer. And Wild-N-Wooly (deer, boar, rattlesnake, walleye, catfish, caribou, moose, elk, turkey, beaver, ground hog, etc. etc.) Boiled, broiled, fried, grilled, spitted and ate! Usually a keg or 2 gets floated and someone gets hurt playing volleyball withthe youngsters (me, D'oh)...

Once in a while we geet some high grade Ahi and I slap together a load of sushimi and the kids and squeemish like cali. rolls and such.... They take longer to make than eat so I eat as I go... One for me, one for the plate, 2 for me, one for the plate...

Lol I think you got the entire northern fresh species there. Minus maybe that exotic nusiance species that slips in thru a ships bilge thru the St. Lawrence in to the chain to Erie lol.. Been readin up on this post about Edison and the Cali folks who are takin it in the can lol.. Im gettin it pretty good too. up $100 last month alone and its been hotter this month so I expect higher next month.
Gotta keep my air compressor off thats a hog. new tanks gonna be a goose in the wallet Im sure.
Im doin pre-emptive strike now to limit the fallout. That 80 sqft of un insullated roof might have something to do with it Sheesh!.
Got that done thank god Im gonna lay blanket down next week for another spot I question. GRRR! Lookinginto eitheir solar hot water or tankless elec. sys. Solar about $2500 for unit installed tankless elec. is $300 plus it removes the tank from my garage. pays for itself in 1 year. Solar about 5 yrs. I doubt Ill live there another 5 yrs. Not much else I can do to shave a KW off. Go nano tank but not gonna happen lol.. Ill go colonial before that lol. They got Led lights coming ot now interesting but not convinced its worth the price of them.
Juice is goin up . I see a mass exodus in this hobby coming and hopefully some deals on used equipment lol.... Big Daddy needs a Dart pump for the uber tank lol...
I heated my whole house last year with a space heater. Never got below 75 the whole winter. AC is my killer its beating me up pretty good this year. Kids leave the tv on and the lights and then in and out all day. Im going grey complaining about that.

Same here no AC it was go outside and pick weeds in the garden even if it was 100 out. Built character or the hump back I got today not sure.

I dont know if I could go without AC here in FL. People die here from no AC. Place I work we got welders dropping out from heat exhaustion all the time. They just roll their eyes back and hit the dirt. Brings a realization to the term sweat shop lol.. We keep Gatorade and salt tabs around for the guys but like they say you can lead a horse to water.........I saw a big ole 6 footer take a nose dive last year. Worst thing you can do is drink beer all weekend and then come to work on Mon. You can walk thru the shop and see who did and who didnt by the sweat rolling off their brows lol..

Im all cozy in my office lol..Dont come out til Oct. lol..So I can drink my share of beer and someone elsess share too no ill effects lol...

I actually had 2 and decided to take a nap. The wife woke me up at 10 to go to bed.... I was tahr'd.... Now, I'm here at work documenting changes we discussed yesterday and just finished faxing revised RFQ's for material. Sometime today I'll be doing a 10 gal waterchange and basting the tank. I also need to replace a fan a I think one of my icecaps is overheating an shuting down. I've had to actinics off every day this week and have to repower the ballast to get them to fire. Gotta check to all and it's a good excuse to clean everything.

Oh ya, I picked up new plug wires for the Ford scrap and since it's raining all day today I'll pull it in the shop and swap wires. I'm hoping that will cure my misfire issue. Already replaced plugs and both coils. If it's not the wires it's a fuel issue and I hat the thought of pulling and testing injectors...... Blecth!

Weekends come with no shortage of DIY projects here. Lawn looks like a hay field. I let it grow out in the heat so it comes to seed and then just when I cant stand to look at it anymore I tak e it down a notch.
I finished blanketing the attic last night. That has to be the closest I ve been to death no doubt. If I was in the CIA and had to make someone talk, Ohhh yea up ya go in the hot box for an hour. They'd talk ooohhh they'd tell me who shot Kennedy and the color of their mothers under britches if I wanted to know.

Funny I blew in some cellulose to top off this one area. I didnt want to lug that machine home so I used my leaf blower lol... Its got a leaf mulcher on it so I hooked it up and ground the stuff up with my hands to medium chunks and sucked it up and blew it out the other end. Worked flawless lol.... I got a power roof vent going thank god or the exhaust would have choked me down.
Just would have been a loud thump and then silence lol...gotta get to work now..........

I'm replacing 28 boards on the pool deck, mowing, trimming shrubs, and weed trimming today. Later I plan to drink several beers and eat cabbage rolls....

Did a 10 gal WC, baste, rearrange, xenia murder and caulerpa culling on the tank. My Yaisha and Pistol moved twice in the last week and are now hidden.... Urchin has taken to hanging out on the LR instead of the back and is pushing around everything that's not glued down... D'oh!

I opened up the house and cranked up the big whole house fan. It's like 70 out now and I needed to freshed up the place. We're supposed to have a nice day today. 80, clear and sunny.... Beats 24/7 rain and 90 fersher....

Oh god 80 sounds like heaven right now. I finished all my exercises in futility early. Relaxing now with my polar bear cup full of Margaritta and a handful of Motrin.
I did the H20 change today as well. I actually did rather large one of about 30%. Needed it too with all the other stuff Ive been doing tanks been suffering a bit. My Xenia is recovering from something that freaked it out about a month ago. I never did find out what it was but its still pulsing and spreading just not as lush as it once was.
I had this red Monti frag I got for free from this place I ordered frags from Its a tiny little chip of a frag. Well I had to get it in and I didnt have any glue to nail it down so of course it got pulled under the rocks and lost in the works. Just found it still alive lol..

I accidentally sucked up one of my Green edged Zoes and its recoiled. Dam! Oh well I wasnt careful I get what I get. Seems like the more I try to kee things stable the more work I end up doing in the end. Thats the reason for the big tank for me. My tanks arent drilled eitheir so thats just more work in the end. I do everything manual no no fancy dosers, or gadgets to top off. All hand labor. Getting tired of it too.
I wanna be able to just walk by the tank and look at it wihtout having to be thinking, Sh#t skimmer cups full, or prefilter needs a rinse or that Maxi jets is clicking need to clean it out. Theres always something.

IMHO all the work is what lends to satisfaction. If it were easy any slob could have a reeftank. I spend about 32 hrs. /week on average on maint. Topoff is a another issue in itself that I have 3 solutions for. Feeding is a PIA too and I don't dose (happens with waterchanges). when I he tthe time, money, and energy to crank up my upgrades I'll stuff in the ATO and also plumb in an auto-changer.

Yes this is true. I feel the same as far as satisfaction is concerned. I doubt the lazy could enjoy the same results. But given all the devices and high priced gadgetry out there I wonder if I had those would I still get the same satisfaction?
Water changes arent the issue for me I have those down to about 30 minutes. Its everything else that seems is necessary at what seems to always be the wrong time (no time) to do. When Im scuttling out the door with an arm full of prints, my brown bag lunch, a cup of coffee and my keys in hand and there she is blowin bubbles out of the return.
Cant very well leave for 12 hrs and not do a top off. Then its well Im topping off might as well check the cup before it overflows. Drop in a clip of Nori too what the hell. Next thing I know an hours gone by and Im late.
Thats what Im talking about.
I have to solve that issue.
I want to get it to a point I can do all the necessary maintanance from my garage short of a scrape down and a turkey baste from time to time. That would be a blessing.
