Yes Jan, the software is ( Pinnacle studio plus version 9)
It came with a device called ( movie box USB) witch should be able to capture digital or analog VHS though the USB port in to your PC and from there you can do pertly much do anything, like put all your old movies in to DVD.
I have a regular 8mm VHS camera but still, was not able to pass any VHS, looks like I need to upgrade my USB ports toUSB2.0.

That's what I thought. I haven't used Pinnacle, but I occasionally use Premiere with the work that I do. For the right job, it's a great tool.

I'll have to check out those video capture devices. I've got an older JVC VHS-C video camera, but it works well when I need it.

I have somnething like that - a think a little belkin thingy somewhere. It's got a composite video and i think stereo audio in and plugs in via usb. I also have a mostly dead 8mm cam froma few years ago that iwas going to try and resurrect for long enough to play out what i have and save it on pc.

beck and call huh??? i never knew...where does it come from? i know p's and q's...but not beck and call...teach me!

and yes, i'm a free man for those of you who didn't catch it the first time...i'll be out of here by new years, not sure what i'm doing with my tank yet...we shall see

"beck and call":

To have someone "at your beck and call" means to have complete control over every action that person takes, to command their constant attention, and to have them standing ready to obey your slightest whim. (As you can probably deduce from that definition, it's a heck of a lot more fun having somebody "at your beck and call" than being the beck-and-callee.)

The "call" part of the phrase is pretty straightforward: if your master calls, you had better answer pronto. The "beck" part is a bit more obscure. "Beck" is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as "A mute signal or significant gesture, especially one indicating assent or notifying a command; e.g., a nod, a motion of the hand or forefinger, etc." If you've ever worked (as I have) for a boss who graduated from the "point and grunt" school of management, that "motion of the forefinger" business will conjure up all sorts of fond memories.

Although the word "beck" used outside of "beck and call" is archaic and rarely heard today, it's really only a shortened form of our familiar word "beckon," meaning "to make a mute signal or gesture," especially to call a person over to you. "Beckon," in turn, comes from an old Germanic word meaning "signal," from which we also derive the modern English word "beacon."

As a verb, "beck" first appeared around 1300 A.D. ("beckon" is a bit older, first showing up around 950). The phrase "beck and call" is much more recent, dating only to about 1875.

Note: I did not write that... I found the information doing a google search, and found it on this website: http://www.word-detective.com

that's our Lonnie--:)

I think soon we should start a subdivision of LIRA called the Long Island Reef Recently Rendered Absolutely Single Society, acronym LIRRRASS. Pretty soon we'lll have enough members to need officers and stuff. Figure two new members this week alone--that's a pretty good growth rate, eh?

Anyone else want to join Brad and I?

Been there, done that, then became a member of Al Bundy's club. Now I'm in recovery, thinking about Happy Living retirement homes, and getting really good at my crochet.

How bizarre is this? Last weekend Ray brought over some coral for Christine and Bradlingtonhoffenweiserwhatshisname, and look what happened.

They're sitting on the bottom of my tank. I do hope that they're not cursed corals ;)
