A New Start

Hi all,

I haven't had a saltwater aquarium since the 70's, with under gravel filter and air stones.
Needless to say I've learned how much they've evolved since then. We are anticipating receiving our new Red Sea Reefer 450 next week. So far, I've also ordered return pump, circ pumps, RO/DI unit, 2 reactors for carbon and BFO, LED lights, water changer, extra circ pump to circulate salt water for changes. Anything I've forgotten??

Also, I've read a lot about "additives". I'd like to get feedback on what additives are absolutely necessary.

I think a good APEX controller is a must these days. I'm just starting out myself and I'm looking at purchasing the new APEX controller and starting with one on day one for piece of mind. Also don't forget an auto top off (ATO).

I don't know what all is included in your set up but I did not see a skimmer on your list. I would also suggest an ATO(auto top off) I personally use the Tunze osmolator. good luck on the start up.

I forgot the skimmer, yes I did purchase a Bubble Magus skimmer. As for the auto top off, it comes with the unit, along with the sump.

Sounds like I need to look into a controller as well.
