dang it... don't know why... can't see any reason, but my flame angel was found dead last night...

he was swimming fine and eating the night before and the next evening he was on the bottom not moving and looking kinda pale...

all the other fish are swimming fine as is the choco starfish...

very dissapointing... that's 3 fish so far (very spread out over the past few months)... kinda makes a guy want to sell off everything... as much as I love the salt water tank, I dread waking up in the morning or looking in it after work... afraid I'm gonna find another goner... :(

man... this sucks... maybe I should sell off everything... dunno... just feeling kinda down...

oh well... just stressing a bit... sorry for the downer guys (and gals)...

sorry to hear about the fish loss, everyone loses a few at the beginning, and it might be that it was collected poorly and nothing you could do about it. Where do you buy your fish from?

you need to buy my skimmer to improve your water quality.

Ha ha! yes I do... we just need to find a time for me to get over there or where ever we were going to meet... we'll figure out something soon...

Hmmm... that's a good question... I don't think I'll say where I bought it from because I don't want people to not go there... I think it was just a fluke with this fish... the other fish I've bought from them have been great...

I was told when I went a month ago to buy my flame that they are having problems right now. Seems like a lot of flames are dying for no reason. I'm not sure if that's valid, just what I heard. Mine is a month+ and going strong. He just moved into the display last week.

A lot of fish are collected using cyanide, and die in our care because of that. 2 years into reefing I bought a pair of clowns at a LFS. They lived for 2 weeks. Died for no reason, they were eating, all my levels checked out, and all my other fish where doing great. That LFS gave me 2 more clowns, and the suffered the EXACT same fate. I have never bought fish from him since, and never will. I bought 2 tank raised clowns a few days later, and they just turned 3 years old in my tank. That being said, we still need to make sure we are doing everything possible to keep the animals healthy. What are your water parameters? And how long did you have the fish?

If it makes you feel any better, I lost $550.00 worth of saltwater fish and inverts in the first 1.5 months of being in this hobby. And no, I didn't lose them all in 1 tank crash, but rather more spread out over the 1.5 months. No reason to give up, investigate the problem to the best of your ability and turn your negative experience (fish losses) into a positive one (a learning experience :) ).

If your tank is lacking areation, some fish are succomb to Co2 poisoning especially at night when everything in the tank gives off Co2. High concentration could kill your fish just like that.
I hope this a learning experience for U. Invest on a bigger skimmer,PH. Do not allow film buldup on the surface of the water..........PEACE

me to

me to

I have lost $hundreds to but now my tank as it gets older and i get wiser my fish seem to have a better success rate. I have bought 2 flame angels and lost both. I will try again because I think that dwarf angels are the coolest. i would wait about a month before adding anything again make sure everything is ok.

good luck
