QV is centuries old, but it has a really useful meaning, and I recommend it, when you know you've given a person a buzzword or keyword that would, if googled, give him a raft of information. QV (quod vide: which see) means 'google this term' and expect to be amazed.
Use it. Liberally. It's a lovely expression, not insulting, but it does let the reader know there is much more to be read about a particular term.
Eg, (for example), if I say a dascyllus (qv) may buzz like a rattlesnake if agitated, and you do look that term up, you'll learn far more than I just said. So it is helpful to you, because you don't have to explain further, and helpful to the user, who will get a rich amount of info.
Of course there are times you want to discuss, and cast a particular slant on the topic, or just want to be helpful. But if this is the 200th bristleworm ID pic of the day, just type 'bristleworm, qv.' and rest your fingers.
