A Reef in the Sky

I understand why your getting a new stand made so you can just put the old tank on the new stand when you move - makes life so much easier.
is this stand made from wood? do you think it will be strong enough without the front centre brace/column. ALso is this sitting on rollers?

The stand does look very nice I assume it is in tupac paint or similar.

very beautiful stand. interested to hear what it is made out of as well and some of the design details behind the change.

Wow, a brand new stand... and whats next to come...??

I have been reading your thread up and down for many weeks now, and you are a inspiration to my building project starting in these days. So now with the move and new stand I am really curious of your next update...

Keep up the good work:)

New stand looks good Andrew! Do you also transfer the livestock or do you start over again. Are you still in HK or do you move abroad?

Progress...

Hey guys... time for an update again.

The tank was moved over to the new apartment last Saturday and the new stand delivered. Everything went smoothly with only one fish causality (a male anthias).

To answer some questions that I never got around to before.

1. Yes... I am staying in Hong Kong. Just moving up the road from where I previously lived.

2. I will use all the old equipment except a new stand and chiller.

3. The stand was built by my previous builder. It has a steel frame (coated for rust protection) and is covered by wood. I have put a vertical center brace in the front. There are no rollers as one end of the tank is close to the wall.

4. The main reason the stand was changed was because of rust. The old stand was also not as high as I wanted. It is now 2" higher and it is very pleasing to the eye. There is no rolling sump (due to space) and no table (due to the new electrical center) Pics of that to come :) Plumbing has changed a little to allow more precision of flow control.

5. Live stock is being transferred... that is, what survives. I will be starting the Zeovit system again... meaning the 14-day cycle.

I did a a wet test yesterday. No leaks at all... so it is now being filled up with RODI water.

Here is what it looked like yesterday before the wet test.

Your stand looks really great but I gotta be honest I kinda get a sad feeling when I see that tank sitting empty. Ahh, it'll be fun to watch you fill it again though.

looking good!

I am so happy that updates continue!Your work is always inspirational and top notch to say the least?

Was your previous stand powder coated?
As fas as I can understande you have skened also the inside of this stand so no metal is in direct contact with the saltyness?

so where are you holding your fish and corals ? or did you give them all away till this is up again ?

It seems like you are going to use new rock and sand and cycle the tank again right ?
