A Reef in the Sky

Things look to be settling down just fine, Andrew. How are your nutrient levels going after the move?

Hi Andrew, where did you buy your Profilux Controller & Dosing Unit? Do you have a link to the website? Cheers

Thanks Ben!! Parameters are going well. Haven't tested for 2 weeks but will do it tomorrow and provide an update.

I lost the smaller of my x3 female lyretails about a month ago. I never found her and as a result there was a little spike in Po4 but I managed to get it back down to 0.01 within 3 weeks which was surprising.

Tank is looking great Bro.. Looking forward to some more pics!
Thanks man... it's developing nicely. Let you know when I have my next New York!!

Very nice tank, but why is it pinned to the top? What makes it different from other tanks?

I have no idea. It was there for thread of the month. :artist:

SPS Pics

Well I have been busy the last few months but have been able to keep the tank in working order. The three main differences from the previous was to...

1. Keep less fish
2. Not dose too many supplements
3. Not touch the coral once placed in the tank

I believe that this has worked very well so far.

Here are some pics I took today... more to come

I nearly lost this coral in the move. It has bounced back nicely and is showing some growth again. You can see one dead branch in the middle.

This is "the most different" tank among all the tanks. It's innovative and a treat to look at. Which includes the DT and the equipment setup.
It's a bench mark in reefing hobby if you ask me or anyone who has kept a reef tank. It's not easy to get to Andrew's standards and the success he has had.

I'm my opinion this tank deserves to remain at the top of this forum and also in the "All time best setups ever" forum too. If there's a forum like that.

One day I hope I can see this tank for real and yea also Hong Kong Disneyland :D
Congrats on being at the top and all the best Andrew.
Happy Reefing!!

Delicious colours Andrew! ;) The green colouration on the Hycinthus is very deep. Love it!

I really like the new coral layout too.

I have a few questions:

1. How many kg of rocks do you roughly have in the tank?
2. What are the readings of Nitrate?
3. and Phosphate?

Many thanks.

amazing tank!!!
Thank you

Thanks Noob... really appreciate it!! Following your adventure too... keep up the great work!

I'm near to Disneyland resort so let us know if you head over.

Thanks... Colours are coming back from the old corals. I spent a lot of time thinking and imagining where corals show go before placing them therefore to avoid touching them.

1. Not sure exactly how many kgs of rock I have. It is less than before though.
2. Nitrate is 0/undetectable (LaMotte)
3. Po4 is 0.01 (Hanna HI 93713)

I tested those this morning.

Alk is still low but everything seems fine. I increased the dosing of ALK by another 5ml and will watch/test for around a week before possibly increasing it more. Have to be very careful and slow as you know

" Why is it pinned to the top?"

Well, I have been following Andrew's tank for a year and a half now. What I think is Andrew has literally put the genie in the bottle. Simplicity in design, maintenance and superb aesthetics. Not to mention that he takes time to respond and share information with everyone who comments in the thread.

Thanks Andrew!

Well said and I totally agree.
Andrew's set up is a bench mark in Reefing hobby.

Thank you

Thanks a lot Andrew!
Your words of encouragement for me and your husbandry skills is a true and big motivation for me and my new reef tank. Thanks a lot for following my thread too.
Thanks also for invite to your beautiful country :)

No.. thank you! I enjoy sharing the adventure and ideas.

It was through many of the other great builds on this website where I got (and still get) ideas from.

Thanks a lot Andrew!

Your welcome Noob!

Andrew, What is the name of the green coral that you "almost lost" in the move?

Thanks,
Steve
Hi Steve... I believe the scientific name for it is back in the thread. I will try to find it and PM you. It certainly is a 'trooper'

looks like a green millepora to me
Thank you...

Gorgeous colonies! I totally agree with you. The less you mess with the tank the happier and more stable them corals are.

That big stag on the left looks like you're on your way to paying homage to Krzysztof Tryc's when he won his ZEOvit DTOTQ ;)

again speacheless V1 ... , absolutly amazing !!!

And how do you keep your glass ( even the back panels ) so clean ???

love the open aquascape , but doesn't the reduced amount of LR in your DT cause any troubbles ?
It doesn't seems like that anyway :D
I ask you this question because i'm gonna set up a bigger tank too (154 G) , and want to have that open look too , do you have additional LR in your sump?

greetingzz tntneon :)
