A Reef in the Sky

Hi everybody...

Apologies for not replying earlier. I'll give a run down on what's been happening but the most important thing is the is the tank is going well. The light unit is performing really well and I will have time now to update the latest happenings over the next few days.

Those of you that have asked questions... I'll respond within the next day as I'm presently catching up on PM's.

Thanks for following along!!

Congratz Andrew,

I just want to take this opportunity to say that it was always a great pleasure to me seeing our lights over your tank. Hope you (and your wife) are really happy with the new Hybrid. All the best for the Future.

best regards
Oliver Pritzel
ATI Aquaristik
Thank you Oliver for the kind words. We love the lights!! Your company certainly makes the Rolls Royce of aquarium lights!!

Hi there. You have an absolutely amazing setup. I'm wondering if you could send me the plans for your stand? I would like to look into getting something similar built. Thanks!
Thank you Gooch. I unfortunately don’t have the plans as the builder of the stand does. Here are some pics of the stand, some of which I haven't shown before. I'll show them in the next post.

Congrats! - Just amazing...and every picture update seems to be getting better and better...how is that possible?!
Thank you Koralcrazy. I am working on my photography skills. Hopefully that helps a little.

so it is a zeovit based system. no wonder the color
Yeah… Full Zeovit system

Congratulation, the colors in your tank is amazing.
Thank you

PM'd about this - I switched my bulb combination this morning to match yours.

My question is, are you using LED presets or did you adjust all of the LEDs manually? If you are using the custom presets... Which are you using?

Thanks.
I believe I replied to your PM but to be sure I’ll answer again.

I have been using the LED presets but as I today have started to adjust them and create my own colours. I was using a variety at different time of the day (Blue+, Purple+, Coral + and Blue Special.

I want to make love to your tank.
LOL

its the drain and return hole that got u going ehh
lol
LOL

LOL :wildone:

He's having withdrawal symptoms after breaking down his tank and fell in love with Andrews tank... :lolspin:
Yeah it’s a shame but hopefully Clint will be back with a new one.

I fell in love with Andrews tank years ago.
LOL… thanks. I must say, your tank was the first I ever saw with the ATI PowerModule. I believe I even PM’d you about it back in 2009

LOL. We all did...just messing with you. :D
LOL

WOW that is amazing! Congrats! How do you manage to keep your overflows and glass clean of algae?
Thank you Noob. I simply clean the glass and back at least twice a week. No more than 5-10mins required.

LOL...best comment ever!
Agreed!!

Wow, tank looks amazing. I think even the sump puts my tank to shame. Great work and congrats on the well deserved TOTM
Thank you but most definitely not. Each tank out there is unique and beautiful in is own way.

just beautiful... keep up with the updates!!!

Thank you. Will do… things have settled down now

Congrats on TOTM. This tank is really big inspiration for me ... Beautiful colors and amazing style. Masterpiece.
Thank Reef and Rock. Thanks for following along

Wow a Zeovit TOTM... What is this world coming to. I think its great. Congrats. It is well deserved...
LOL… thank you!

Congratulations mate, truly deserving of the TOTM honor. I really think the only way to really show you how much we admire your reef is to all strip down, smother our selves with acro slime and sacrifice some flubber in front of the tank at midnight.......... obviously fishypets you ain't invited cause you're a reef pervert - you can do your thing once our ceremony is over. :)
LOLOL!!!... Thanks mate

Congrats on TOTM! Another amazingly clean and minimalistic tank.
Thank you very much

Ts do u get any micro bubbles in your tank ?
No I don’t chercm. But I do have to be careful that the output of the Zeo reactor (where bubbles come out from) is not too close to the return pump otherwise bubbles can go to the display tank. I woke up one morning to a surprise!

This makes me HATE my tank...
No no… as I said previously. All tanks are special and beautiful in their own way.

Andrew,

Congrats on TOTM! In planning stage and would like to get a feel of ALK and CA demands for a thriving SPS tank such as yours? What volume of each are you dosing per day?

Thanks!
Thank you lanshark. I will provide a more accurate update as I need to recheck but from memory ALK was 95ml per day and Ca 110ml. This will need to be increased. It’s amazing how much the corals consume compared to when they were smaller.

Congratulations on TOTM Andrew and also making on ATI promo video. Nice to see your tank there.
Thank you Mark.

Here it is for others

Congrats, but I always thought you had TOTM honors already given your thread in this forum! Well deserved!
Thank you. That was for TOTM (Thread of the Month) back in 2010

This tank is the definition of a TOTM although IMHO more than the "month's" :)
Congratulations, well deserved!
Thank you Hudds

Congrats on TOTM! It's actually what introduced me to your tank - I thought it was so gorgeous, I went looking for your build thread and have read through it all over the past week. You have an amazing tank and great attention to detail, thanks for sharing the journey with everyone and keeping us updated! I'm in the process of planning my first reef tank, and yours has made me realise that the minimal look with less live rock is definitely the way I want to go. Love it! :D
Thank you and welcome. Glad you like it

Just saw the latest pic updates.....
I just can't believe your dedication and skills in maintaining such a clean system. Hard to believe your tank has been running for years...it's so clean it looks like it had been just setup yesterday. Hats off to you...such an inspiration for us all.
Your hard work and care is definitely paying dividends....beautiful healthy thriving corals.
Also your tank is getting unwanted attention.....people wanna make love to it now :lol2:
I just wanna hug your tank :D

Thanks again for the inspiration...
You have created "Art with water"
As always noob… thank you!! My goal way back was to create a piece of ‘ART’ and it’s humbling that others, including you agree that I have achieved this.

Congrats Andrew! Upgrade time?....LOL
Thanks Mav… you cheeky man. Don’t tempt me!!

A little late to the party but congratulations!!!!!! Tank looks amazing!
Thank you foxrazr

Congratulation for your tank! WoW!

I have a question for you, what the size for your wires duct in the electrical panel?
Great name!! Thank you.
The ducts came as longer pieces and I cut them to length. The dimensions are 4.5cm x 4.5cm

What kind zeovit do you use in your system,
and then how often you change your t5 bulb
I use the full Zeovit system comprising of Bak, Start3, Food7, Sponge Power, Spur2, B-Balance, K-Balance and Biomate. I haven’t changed the bulbs as they are still new. The previous ATI PM saw the bulbs run for up to 15months at a time.

Super nice build, what did you make the faces on your stand out off.

Thanks
Eric
Thanks Eric. The frame is metal cover by wood. The doors are wood.

Our evening news had story on Smog problems in HK, hope it gets better for you and your Reef...... Cheers.
Really? Wow... I just took the picture on the right and you can see the comparison to what a good day looks like. The smog drifts down from mainland China assisted by the weather systems.

The picture also shows the view the fish and coral have

v1...rotate Ill give you one guess as to who's build inspired my DIY stand a couple years back :)

People in the condos below you have the choice to pay 1,000,000 for the ocean view or 10,000,000 for "Reef in the Sky" view. And I heard there's a twenty five year wait list to get on the "Tank" side.

That's why your corals and fish are happy cuz look at the view...
LOL... maybe

Andrew, is that view from your flat or did you take it from your office? :)
It's the view from my apartment from the living room only.

Amazing tank! Congratulation on TOTM!

Quality of work is at very high standards.

Is your stand made from wood or acrylic?

Beautiful as always Andrew, thanks for long awaited update. Can you tell what intensity you running your fixture at? I assume T5's at 100% but what about leds? Thank you.
