UV, ReefKeeper Elite, Dosing Pumps, Frig, - Another Update

So another long day working working in the fish room.

I finally got my Emperor Aquatics UV plumbed and installed. I still have one more to install but am going to wait a while. I am tired...

I installed my ReefKeeper Elite. I still need to soak my old PH Probe in some vinegar and recalibrate it. Joe brought me two different probe holders that will hold up to six different probes.

I'll be ordering the new Salinity Probe from Digital Aquatics and a couple of probe cord extensions and Power Controllers.

I hooked up three different Peristaltic Dosing Pumps that I purchased from Bulk Reef Supply. Additionally, I bought three (3) five gallon water jugs that I will use to dose Calcium, Alkalinity and Magnesium.

I am running my carbon out of a Fluval Cannister Filter. I am running my GFO out of a 21" Sea Side Aquatics reactor. Both are now installed and running.

I also picked up my refrigerator for the fish room. I purchased all of the plumbing parts including the flex PVC to plumb dosing pumps for automatic feeding of Reef Nutrition products. I should have the new dosing pumps towards the end of next week.

We have changed our plans with the Fluidized Sand Reactor. We did not like the way it was being built locally. It didn't have the safety precautions as others that I have seen. My biggest concern with the reactor - "What happens if the electric goes out?" I certainly don't want everything being dumped back into the sump. So??? I have ordered the 8' monster from Emperor Aquatics and it should be in next week.

Emperor builds such great quality products and it is essentially plug & play.

WOW you have been busy! That all looks fantastic! Love the UV...They (EA) work great. You will sleep well knowing your fish and tank are being looked after by the Emperor! Is that a 120watt?

Thanks Pal. Yes, I am very pleased with Emperor Aquatics. I am using this 120 watt and a separate 50 watt UV.

Emperor is also currently fabricating my Fluidized Sand Filter!

This set up is simply amazing. Have to admit it really makes me feel poor as a peasant! lol Great job!! I can only hope my little 300DD turns out as nice.

Thank DeepSeaBeauti!

I appreciate all the compliments! "little 300DD?????" That is a great size and I am sure that it will great!

Hey Dan....looks great. any reason you went with vertical or horizontal mounting on the UV? My 80w arrived Friday and I just got the bypass done.

I don't know what to say. I guess I have to be patient because trying to match or keep up with you is definitely a challenge. Keep up the good work and thanks for the inspiration.

Nothing is more fun to watch then when I drop a rock with Nori or seaweed tied to it!

Hi Steve. Horizontal or vertical, it works the same as long as it is plumbed right. If you go vertical, make sure the inflow is on the bottom.

The only reason I went vertical with my mounting was space. I didn't have room above my sump. I will probably put my 50 watt above my sump but this monster was just too big!

Good luck with your 80w!!!

Patience is a great virtue that I don't always have.

I haven't been working on Fridays and so I have been able to get a lot done on Fridays and Saturdays. It is disappointing when I get home and don't have a delivery from UPS or Federal Express to open.

I have to say, my wife and kids have exhibited a lot of patience with me.

I am getting to the point where I have been able to sit back and enjoy watching my fish and corals more. One of my favorite times of the day right now is "Feeding Time!"

Feeding time is great! I love it to! And I miss it very much with my tank being back in Az and me in Fl. :-(. Glad things are moving along smoothly Dan! Ill have to see if you'll let me swing by next time im in Tucson visiting my folks!

How can you not have a tank in Florida? Don't you have the ocean in your back yard?

Next time you come to Tucson, shoot me a PM and I'll be glad to show you the system. Hopefully things will have grown out by then!

Hi Dan,
Just wondering.. with all the 3 sides of the display tank blacked out and no visibility from the fish room, don't you find it hard to perform maintenance or place corals?

Wow, great build. Thanks so much for sharing all the pics and info. I love the auto fish feeder. I live in Scottsdale and would love to come down and see it some day.

I'm still working on the wife for a big tank. She really starting to see how amazing reef tanks are and likes my 60 gallon redsea max. I've been in the hobby for 7 months and still working on the education side.

It definitely helps when everyone who comes over is drawn to the tank.
