A Reefaholic's 1000+ Gallon Mixed Reef System Build

Any updates on the build Dustin?

RC slowness has kept me off the site lately;)

Sorry but been really busy for past week or so with life.

- Found out I'm having a boy
- Took on responsibility as President of INDMAS, so been spending a lot of time reading up on old threads so I don't feel like a newb to the more senior club members...
- Finished stairs/trim, still need to trim in tank
- Ran service wire for electircal last night, getting ready to go mount sub-panel so I can start working on running all the outlets in the next week
- Building a website that's 50% done that will follow my tank and going to document whole build and more on:fun4:

This weekend I'll post up some pics of some goodies that should mean water is coming sooner...That's about it...Now going to work on the electrical.

Glad to see you back and congratulations on making president of your organization. I think I'm going to need one of those ear pieces.

Bill's company that makes the skimmer/reactor. Lifetime warranty and think it could fall 10 feet without breaking.

That's a big skimmer. What's it rated for?

Really depends on the feed rate but systems are running from sizes of 500 gallon reef tanks to 2500 gallon aquaculture facilities with the one pump. Hard to put a number on any skimmer but I don't have any doubts about it being able to handle it, just thinking I might have to consider dialing back the feed so I don't overskim!

What was even more amazing today was Bill giving me a couple hours of his time to talk reefs and show us his 25'X10'X10' reef tank. The attention to detail and talent he had on the build was amazing. My skimmer looks very, very small compared to the two he runs on his system with the same design but 2 darts, bigger air pump, bigger/taller body diameter. After checking out his tank think I'm going to figure out how to build a surge into my tank later down the road and will share some of that idea at a later date.

You have plenty of time. I bet you that if you put the little guy in a baby swing in front of the tank and he will be asleep in no time....giving you plenty of time to do tank maintenance. Or you can do what I do sometimes....once everyone goes to bed you can do some work.

Baby scuba gear and a cleaning pad will keep him busy!

You have officially offended the Mountain Dew drinking club with that size comparison. I will attend Mountain Dew counseling for that display. lololol
