A Reefaholic's 1000+ Gallon Mixed Reef System Build

Now those are some sweet water barrels!!

Yessir. I was going to move them to the basement but just convinced the wife that I want to keep them in the garage! That'll save me some back and leg work on hauling salt down to the basement and I can easily plumb the water the same place I ran the electrical for the panel. Should I ever develop a leak it won't be as catastrophic either. I wanted to save the room down in the basement for storage and room for a nice QT system at the end of the wall!

A supportive wife makes the large reef doable! Sounds like a way better plan to have them in the garage!

Your cabinet front really looks nice you should think about painting the inside of the four square's the same color as your wall? Maybe paint a piece of 8x11 paper hold it up and see how you like it:)

Working on a lot of projects here and there to get the tank going finally. What media does everyone run with their Calcium Reactors? From what I've found I like the two the best:

TLF Coarse Media

ZeoMag

If using ZeoMag, what percentage do you mix it in at? I should have some more pictures later on!

I can't believe everyone I keep reading about is switching back. I'm always chasing alk with dosing and hope that the CR helps to stabilize that number. Just now ordering a good regulator!

I had been thinking about it for a while as I spent almost a year trying to keep my ca and mg at the levels I wanted but no matter what adjustments I made I just couldnt do it and then my regulator went. Since I already had ghl dosing pumps, 2 part on hand and with the possibility of having to break the tank down if we move....I just didnt want to put any additional money into equipment right now. I switched over almost a month ago and will say that my alk, ca and mg have been dead on at my desired levels.

Gotcha. I'm buying the best regulator I can buy so hopefully that'll be the key to what others are having issues with. Needlevalves are not accurate and the patent on the carbondoser makes it the only electronic valved regulator out there...If it does not work out, the resell is great and I could always have Brutes full of Alkalinity, Calcium, and Magnesium!

Ive heard thats the best one. I will keep the ca reactor for future use if my demand ever gets to the point where it makes sense to add the ca reactor and run both.
