A Reefaholic's 1000+ Gallon Mixed Reef System Build

Just got back from Premium Aquatics and picked up some goods I had on order. Have a few items backordered but have plenty of other things to keep me busy in the interim.

The fun stuff! The couple DC pumps are for my water mixing station and I'll be integrating the pumps to rinse the carbon/gfo straight to the drain with the flip of a couple valves when I make the changes.

Substrate I got.

Now to go play with the new toys!:dance::dance:

(Wife might kill me at the end of this week as I'm buying the substrate, regulator, lighting, pumps, etc this week to wrap this baby up!)

Gotta get some wood in morning to build the water mixing station. It'll be tall enough that Salinity Salt can sit underneath it for storage. Hopefully can build and get this mostly painted tomorrow and then have the rest of the plumbing supplies in Thursday to get Water Station worked on.

***It's so colorful because those are the different sized cuts I'll have.

Now that looks like it was a fun trip. I would go totally broke if I lived as close to premium aquatics as you do!

OK that is another person that using taptalk has not had luck quoting.

It has to be in the 'not use html' markup or something.

I just got a SpeedWave 2640 the other day too, quiet as all heck, and considerably less energy than anything else that pushes that kind of flow. One thing to be aware of though, your threads on the output might be a little janky if you're thinking of hard plumbing them into a closed loop. It'll work with the hose bibs and locking nut that's supplied with it, but try to screw on PVC and you'll be lucky if you can grab onto the first thread. I have been told however using a pipe threader easily corrects the problem.

See I am not the only one. Had me going crazy and doing things to my phone that shouldn't be happening. OK I'm done venting, back on topic.

Making some progress. Tank has most of the sand in it and stopped adding it this morning as I was not able to see into the tank completely to the back to see where it needed to be added.

Next up on the task list was getting water change station built...Where I wanted to add the station needed to do some drywall repair on corner that was hit so that delayed me yesterday and I drywalled, primed with mildew primer, and painted with semi-gloss paint.

Cuts made.

Platform...

Stand 90% the way. Need to attach a few more pieces but gotta find my jig for pocket hole drilling.

On to finishing stand and then painting...Had to take a break to post some progress:twitch:

I hope you have a few more pieces on that stand... like wood directly under the platform, because as it stands (no pun) all the weight is going to be on the shear strength of those 8 screws holding the 2x4 to the platform.

I was thinking the same. in the rendering the red and blue members are for transfer of weight around the top frame to the floor. Looks like the DIY Tank Stand design in the rendering but the outer leg members are not installed on the final pic. On that design the inner wood members are only meant to shore up the stand so that it won't get racked.

I was just testing you guys. It's exactly like my drawing, had not put the wood on yet for support as I was having hard time finding my kreg jig. It's built but will have to prime tonight as I've got commitment tonight. Don't worry, I over engineer everything!!! :-)

Here, I snapped a shot before leaving...Does that make everyone happier?!

The front side does not have a 2X4 along the bottom front as I'm going to use underside for 8 Salinity Salt buckets (Changing to that salt...) I'll be securing the front corners to the concrete with brackets/screws so no worries! :spin2:

Wayne, here's the regulator you referred! I like it and think it will be MUCH more accurate.
