A Reefaholic's 1000+ Gallon Mixed Reef System Build

Congratulations Dustin!
How long are you going to QT and what method of acclimation will you use?

Sorry, no one else was going for the obvious so I went there.

I am with worm on this, don't alter your daily household routine. We did for the first and it was tiptoe everywhere. For the second we learned and she can sleep through anything!

Congratulations!

My daughter was born on the same day (4/14) just 31 years ago! She was small too. Doc said, 'She's little, but a keeper!'

Enjoy all the days you have with him!

H20!!!!!!!! No more ETOTM:)

H20!!!!!!!! No more ETOTM:)

Thanks to everyone for the congratulations. We were able to come home with baby boy last night from the NICU and were very surprised to hear the news from the doctor as we thought we'd be lucky to be home by end of week! That being said, changed out the DI last night and zip tied the tubing on to start the fill.

Today it made it to about 6 inches. The 2 X 90 GPD membranes are not quiet making 180 GPD but think I should be good in about 4 days...

LaCl "Reactor";) Mag 12 is pumping water up into a filter sock where I'll dose LaCl to ensure I pull the phosphates out before opening valves to the main system.

Water out of "LaCl Reactor"!

Cabinetry before priming.

After.

Wait... did you say you had a baby??

HAHAHA...

Good job DAD...

Something to keep you busy and out of her hair.

Hello, I have been following your amazing build but now have my first question. I also will be starting my tank with dry rock from Marcorock. I did not know that I had to treat it with LaCl What is LaCl and how do I treat the rock to make sure that phosphates are taken care of.

:dance::dance::bounce3:

Congrats on safe delivery buddy. Looks like a reefer!

Enjoy it while you can man it's the greatest thing in life

Been a rollercoaster ride the past few days and family is the focus right now and forgot I even have a tank?!

Baby boy was born Sunday night after mom had major complications and both scared hell out of me! Currently in NICU and hope we can go home sometime soon and I can teach him to swim in my little ocean in our home.

Before NICU

i'm guessing Dustin is busy B U S Y ! I wonder how the tank is doing ;)

Yeah, I've not had a lot of time for reefing lately. Today is the FIRST day we've not had company over the whole day so I've been doing some other things. I've got the tank full of water and dialing in the salt today. In my "spare time" this past week and this week I've been working on our club's annual swap, INDMAS as I'm the President. I'm hoping next week we'll have continued personal time where I can get some work actually done!

Looking at vertical tanks right now to get a mixing station built. That and an exhaust system need to be in place ASAP!

Just ordered a couple 200+ gallon vertical tanks for RO/DI and Saltwater. Now I'm on the hunt for a solution for humidity? Have already noticed that the humidity is higher in the basement and would like to do something in the fish room.

Would everyone recommend just a intake/exhaust fan hooked controlled by humidity or an air exchanger for the room?

Dustin, I have the HRV 704 in my fish room and it does a great job of keeping the humidity levels right where I set them. I also have a santa fe dehumidifier system that takes care of the rest of the basement.

I'd go with the exhaust fan with a humidistat controlling it. Panasonic makes some really quiet fans, not sure on the humidistat though I've been looking into them and haven't found my magic ticket ... but then again I'm a bit farther back than you, since there's no water in my tank yet :D I do know a couple people who have that setup though to air out their fish room.
