A Splash of Color - My SPS Peninsula Reef

Glad to hear you're still above water!
Hope all is well.

..by the looks of the red slime you've been 'battling', it would seem it's your personal life that's giving you more trouble..

Good luck with everything!

Are you a barebum reefer now mate? I couldn't see a spec in the latest.

I doubt it. But he has always run 1/3 barebum tank because the pumps push the sand over on some part of the tank. Or maybe Kevin turns up the flow in the night messing with the tank and equipment. :lolspin:

Due to cyano all over the sand and not being home full time to deal with it i did my usual trick with all new tanks and ended up siphoning all the sand out except for a pile against the overflow wall for the yellow wrasse to sleep in.
This is a month ago when i had almost finished removing most of the sand over a few water changes. It looks terrible to me and sand will be going back in once i get more rock in the sump. Sand blowing all over the place is better than no sand ;)

Sorry for being absent for so long guys but i've had a lot on my plate with family things and been away a fair bit. I promise to reply to everyone and answer PM's over the weekend but the main thing is, i haven't killed anything since i last posted

You can see the cyano i'm battling atm which is why i have no acro porn to show you guys unfortunately......

I wasn't going to post but now I've got the bastttarrd Bananas in Pajamas song stuck in my head! It's been 8 or 9 years since I've even heard it...

Glad to see you're back. I was worried that you'd been eaten by a venomous man eating drop bear.

Hey Andrew I'm glad everything is ok. That latest is a really cool acro, well so are all the others too.

Thanks Greg and everyone else for the well wishes :)

I bought this little guy a few weeks back thinking it would be purple but it's looking more blue as it settles in. It's in the middle of a pastel patch of acros so it should pop once it lights up properly.

Thanks Dan and bibarassa :)

The green acro at the tip of the blue acro is the weirdest color green, it looks like one of those glow in the dark ghost finger puppets i had 40 years ago lol. It has very weak wishy washy purpley pigments on the corallite lips but it refuses to color up nicely so far

Hey Mark, i pulled the carbon and phos zorb a month ago when i noticed the nutrients bottoming out and algae dying off big time due to the removal of most of the sand. Another reason i don't like BB is it makes the water a lot more 'twitchy' and fast to react to changes in the tanks nutrient balance imo. Just have the skimmer running now days mate. :)

Most of the acros are slightly 'off' in colors due to me raising potassium from 280 to 450 in three days  This was due to a miscalculation using the apple iphone calculator so that goof is down to those wankers in the apple calculator design section. :hammer:

Hey Biggles, some stunning shots as usual buddy.

I'm glad to see you back around and I hope that means things are well out in the real world.

I'm always amazed at how things look in your tanks. And I can't wait to see what you come up with and share next.

That full tank shot is impressive! Do you have any plans to attach pieces to the back wall or glass with magnets or anything?

And what's next on your wish list for the tank?
