A Splash of Color - My SPS Peninsula Reef

Andrew, do you have consistent colour production from your radiums? One of my 250s is noticeably whiter than the other.. I have switched them to each ballast and the one bulb is always more white..
If you do that upgrade, I'm coming to see it in person!! It'll be awesome. And worth the trip... And worth my wife leaving me for doing the trip..

Take me with you, we can share the legals

Yes!! One more Canadian and it may become cost effective! :)
How are your Radiums? Are they giving off the same color? I'm getting a third, tomorrow to do some comparing..

I'm sure Greg (oldude) would be up for it :lolspin: Radiums are awesome, the colour transitions made the entire process worth it ten fold  Hats off to Mr. Biggles and Dom for getting me off my *** to do the swap

Yes, but I'm asking if your two radium bulbs look exactly then same colour..
I have one bulb that is more white than the other.. I love the look of the bluer one.. I'm wondering if they will burn in to the same color or if I have a defective bulb...
You're going to have to update your 'current tank info' soon.

Yes all three look the same to me. When they fire they start out like a 14K but quickly transition to 20K. I assume you swapped bulbs between sockets and got the same result?

Yep.. Swapped and got same result. I got a new radium, today and it's closer to the blue one... Still not exactly the same- still slightly less blue.. Maybe the blue one is too blue.. Too bad because I like the bluer look... Anyways.. I'll keep playing..

Sorry for the sidetrack, Andrew!
Back to the big biggles rainbow acro show!!!!

I'm glad to see you got that 400W up and running :D The tank looks amazing and I think that island will be back in no time with all that extra light it's now getting lol you always have me impressed mate :)

..... that POV shot is mighty fine and the angle is just right too.

Thanks Nils :)

Very nice Andrew, that FTS is pretty spectacular!

Thanks Matt, the white sand certainly makes the colors stand out a bit more.

Nicely done Andrew, are you happy with the extra sunshine? It will be interesting to see the results under the new MH :D

Thanks Mike, i like the balanced brightness now and the acros out wide and down low are loving the extra light now hitting them. The ones up top are still a tad freaked out lol.

Nice and bright.

The amount of light reflecting from the white sand is crazy Mark lol - the acros are loving the Radium hot spring health resort of course.

Yup, spectacular. Just as I suspected.

Thanks very much mate :)

I haven't seen what you're talking about in person Matt but i know from mates that it can happen. More so with the 250's than the 400's from what i've heard. Years ago when i was running 250W Radiums i made sure to order pairs that shared the same production batch number to avoid exactly what you're talking about buddy.

Looking great Andrew. .so bright.

Thanks Dan, the street lights dim when i fire the Radiums up...............;)

Take me with you, we can share the legals

Hide in Matt's luggage, Kevin does it all the time

You best get prepared Andrew, if Greg signs on you'll have 4 Canadians on your doorstep, and as you know we're a tough crowd :hmm3:

Andrew.... would you be so kind to tell me what do you think about my tank. I will appreciate an experienced sps owner comment.

I'll be happy to come check out what you have going on in your reef Daniel. :)

It's a given that Greg will be coming.....
I'm glad you're enjoying running the Radiums again mate, the acros will take a month or two to adjust but then.........yum yum colors

Trying to explain stuff to Mike is like talking to a plank of wood Matt......

FTS looking awesome Biggles.

Thanks Sahin :)

Talking about Radiums is never a sidetrack Matt......

Thanks Dom, i'm much happier now that i have even lighting over the display mate. Might take some of the acros a few months to adjust but i'm sure they'll be team players lol.

Count me in!

That's four Canadians now Mindy.......... pretty sure they brought in four cane toads back in the day and we all know how well that worked out......... won't be long and we'll chasing Canadians around the back yard with a shovel too i reckon..........:hammer:

I added some subtle color contrast to the middle section. The big chunk of tricolor i pried off the back of the left island looks rather over the top surrounded by nothing but white sand. I need to get more sand.........
I tried to turn the brightness down in this pic lol.

The Radiums are awesome, SPS are already looking outstanding, can't wait to see them in another few weeks. Nice adjustment you made, maybe post a few closer pics.

I believe most Canadians are at least familiar with a toilet, so hopefully you want have to chase them around the backyard with a shovel. Maybe for a day or two, but most of them should figure it out. You may have to sneak a local into the yard to show the slower ones how it's done, just like training a finicky fish to eat.

The very far left back of the display, these SSC twins are devouring the tricolor. That's the same blue velvet looking acro i now have an 8" long chunk of surrounded by nothing but white sand between the two islands. You don't miss that colony when you walk up to the display lol. Colors off a tad but not too far from what you see in person.
And yes that's sand resting on the SSC, the yellow wrasse does that when he goes to bed every night.

Lol thanks Ryan :)

I'm pretty certain customs will grab 'em up as soon as they touch down in Aus mate. An anonymous phone call regarding an incoming pack of Canadian drug mules should see to that........ :p

Well...... Woulda been acro mule, Andrew...
But after that comment, I ain't 'packing' no green dragon for you!!
Glad to know there's plumbing in Aus.. I always thought the shovel WAS the plumbing down there! :)
