A Splash of Color - My SPS Peninsula Reef

I was thinking about you biggles and wondering if you were OK? The new tank is sweet, hopefully everything is doing well.

Biggles we all are in need of an update! Now I suggest you stop fiddling and get that camera out, push that button on top of it and post some pics! I believe Someone told once before that it's not that difficult! :lolspin: hmmmmmm I wonder who that was?? :jester:

I think Biggles has joined Bello and went to live in a distant forest somewhere...its all Bello's fault.

It's a painstaking process to both procure and then inject each of his corals with the multicolored dyes that Biggles sources from the indigenous plant species growing in the darkest parts of the Australian outback...
He probably hasn't finished mixing all the colours for his new tank...

I actually tried his method out last week, still waiting on results :lol2:. My guess is Biggles has a secret smuggling operation going on to get amazingly colored acropora from an undisclosed undiscovered reef, possibly from another planet.

Sorry to everyone for disappearing but i've been very unwell for a few weeks. The tank is going well considering a lot of bouncy parameters due to hospital stays but i didn't kill anything so that's the main thing :)

I'll reply to everyone's posts asap and i really, really want to catch up on all my buddies journals - that's a priority.

This was the first piece i made for the new scape, the new reef layout was heavily influenced by some awesome pain meds i was on for a while..........:smokin:

You can see the resident crab in the middle wondering where the water went.

Great progress. That new tank and the proportions look perfect, but unfortunately I think you're already out of space. So when is the next upgrade?

Thanks Mark, i ran out of rock and acros so the scape is going to take a while to complete - lots of tinkering room..........

Congrats on having the heavy lifting done so to speak. Glad it went well and everything looks good. I really like the new tanks dimensions. I'm sure the scaping will go well , just don't glue your fingers together. :)

Thanks mate, i glued myself to acros, tissues and a couple of hand towels :fun5:

TANK IS AWESOME! Cant wait to see it scaped and on its own life support

Thanks very much mate, the peninsula is fully self sufficient now and ticking along well.

Congrats on the move :D I just went through a move to my bigger tank last weekend and did the same thing as you - laid everything out on the bottom of the tank to figure out later :)

Thanks Phil, i think trying to rush the new scape is where most people go wrong. I took ages looking at rock and acros before i touched anything. It took a while to fully grasp the huge increase in bottom surface area lol.

Nice, looks good biggles.
Are you going barebottom on this tank, or did Sahin forget to tell you that the sand goes under the acros :spin1:

Thanks mate, i don't like the shop sales tank look so sand will always be present even if it's a series of sand dunes blowing all over the place :spin1:

Now that looks bloody marvelous...dont worry, the compliment isnt aimed at you; but at Kevin. Obviously he is the amazing reefkeeper here. Your just there to create hurdles along the way and tinker with stuff.

Awesome work Kevin  Look forward to how this tank is going to look, I have no doubt this is going to look amazing (hopefully Biggles doesnt mess anything up).

Lol, i will mess lots of stuff up Sahin - it's me after all..........:reading:

epic day! as with all we are waiting to see where you take it next

Thanks Rodney, i'll take some pics this weekend so you guys can see where i got to in the peninsula after using up all my rock and acro goodies. :)

Well Kevin does have the advantage of being able to use his SCUBA gear to work on the tank...can't blame Biggles for taking advantage of that:)

He's banned from diving since i found bear hairs in my acros mate..........

Biggles, I bloody did not laugh at that comment. I was thinking, "Fair dinkum 1000_smiles!

Marty

Hmmmm, i reckon you did have a giggle to yourself Marty.......

Biggles are you alright mate? How is things?

Replied to your PM my friend.

Maybe TOO much Vegemite. Hope all is well.

You can't have too much vegemite, i ate lots on toast when ill as a matter of fact :)

Been lurking this thread for sometime. I cannot wait to see your new tank once it's fully setup, good work Biggles.

Hi mate, thanks for following along :)

Eh-hmm... how about some pictures please. I know I haven't said much lately. But I've been lurking. I'd love to see how the transition is going.

I haven't been up too much on my end. Just battling gha still. Added a yellow eye kole tang... running gfo... Added more turbo snails. Looking forward to getting back to corals if I can beat the algae beast.

You certainly don't have that issue. Things were looking great so far on your new setup. What pumps did you end up going with on the peninsula?

I'd like to at least request a shot of your favorite view on the new system so far :-)

Well, back to work I go... Keep up the killer reefing biggles 'ol boy.

Hey Troub, i'll take some snaps this weekend mate. I still need to get one of those gyre thingy pumps as the stream types are not going to do the job i want on their own.
The tang and snails sound great, now get more snails because whatever you think is a lot - isn't lol.

Thanks mate, on the mend and the tank is going well.

Hey Scotty, lol i haven't taken a reef pic in a couple of weeks which is a record for me mate. :fun5:

Ya we heard from either one of them..

I'm back Dan :)

I used triple strength fluoro lime green tree sap on that table above Matt :wavehand:

I actually tried his method out last week, still waiting on results :lol2:. My guess is Biggles has a secret smuggling operation going on to get amazingly colored acropora from an undisclosed undiscovered reef, possibly from another planet.

The fish are going to thing they're on another planet when i dump 60 pounds of white sand in the tank tomorrow - the yellow tang freaks right out every time i add sand and hides in the acros for a day or two - he won't swim over bright light reflecting new sand.

Glad to see you back!
I hope you have recovered well from falling out of that tree while collecting sap!
Hope you're ok!!

Sorry to hear you were ill, but glad your doing better. Best of health to you from here on. You gotta love those yellow tangs, part bully and part chicken :)

Holy Krptonite Acro Batman! I knew the Green Acro Presidency will be yours forever matey! And Biggles next time, please dont eat the Acros...I can see you took a huge bite outta that coral...as can be seen from the top portion of the photo...Dont be listening to Kevin and his crazy ideas about the Krptonite Acro giving your super powers...No wonder you been ill mate. Now get well soon and no more eating green Acros. We need Biggles to be in 100% health so that the new tank will be providing a huge number of eye candy SPS photos.
