A Splash of Color

I'm sorry to everyone for not being on lately but i've been dealing with some crappy stuff the last few months and the tank has suffered as a result.
When i get stressed i get feral and that's why i don't post because i know i will say stuff i later regret.

I discovered the salinity had drifted to 1.0230 over a few weeks but since i hated the poopy acros and resented looking after the tank i raised it to 1.0260 in 12 hours and when the lights came on next day i saw pieces losing flesh.
I took out 6 litres of salt water water and poured in 6 litres of RO on the spot figuring it would lower the shock of such a rapid lift............. i was on a roll by now and i had the sh$ts big time so didn't care what happened tbh.

I grabbed the cutters and removed a few pieces dying and that's when one handle slipped from my fingers and dropped down onto the fireworks like a karate chop. I looked at the 1" branch end smashed off the colony and rather than glue it back i instead smashed the fireworks colony two more times whilst calling it a bastard - it's not a colony now.

Dom came by and took me to Deer Park the other day, hadn't been in months and i had a great time catching up with Dave and listening to Dom talk about what waste of money stupid rare fish he was going to get next........
At one point i remarked quite loudly that there was a large wave of water rushing by my feet in the shop and perhaps something was amiss........ helping soak up about 7o litres of water with towels, mops and a vac was the best time i've had in months :)

Dave had poisoned all the acros with two pack floor sealer fumes a few days earlier so everything looked light tan colored and bleached - i decided i would save a couple of echi sticks and Dom decided to waste his money on a stupid little acan and something else i can't even remember - that's how much i must have thought of it........;)

To John, Ken and Jen - thanks guys :love1:

I tidied the islands up and now just have two main structures under the radiums. Draw is 100ml and was 190ml before things went south. I stopped everything a few weeks back and don't use AF or anything else now as i want to let things settle for a few months after what has gone on.

Despite everything i do to them my acros always seem to forgive me, poopy and not growing but coloring back up slowly, just before the fish went ni ni's tonight - i haven't done a Flo :)

Hope life gets better for you Andrew, sometimes it is just a lot of work. Tank still looks good despite it all though.

Glad you're back mate. Hope life figures itself out. We missed you and your wit, well already I did. Your tank in bad shape looks better than mine ever has. That snowman is looking like he needs some more acro clothes.

To quote a famous American, Forest Gump, he said, "****, it happens." You will get everything straightened out. Sorry to hear about your problems, good luck. By the way, what happened at Daves?

Marty

Sorry to hear about all the troubles Andrew. Tank still looks great to me from that picture.

Thanks Jess, this guy started RTN'ing an hour before lights off - many pieces are in a fragile state and a few more will go yet i think. It's a bit like what Matt has been going through after his calcium reactor goof. It's going to take a while for the damage to fully halt unfortunately. Cardinal with ich.......:(

Thanks Scott, everything looks good under blues only mate lol. I prefer the uncluttered scape though. :)

Thanks a lot mate :) I will do some work on the snowman this weekend, i added two small all blue echi trees to the left side of his rock but he needs purple stick arms and a face.......... and buttons........ and acros hidden on his back......

Thanks Marty, i'll tell you what Dave bloody did. He decided to grind about 4sq meters of cement shop floor in the dry room and seal it with a two pack epoxy resin.

' So you just painted that toxic blue sh$t all over the floor without covering the acro tank did you mate ? '

' Well i had to add the metallic glitter by hand but yeah i won't be doing that again '

' I don't care about the #%$#$@ floor glitter Dave, none of the acros are glittering because you poisoned them all mate '

' The LPS and everything else didn't seem worried, just the acros '

' JUST the acros hey Dave ? '

The rest was a colorful rant pointing out just exactly what corals were and were not important and why there would be no more floor sealing work unless i had the day off and could be present. I can't trust Dave to look after the acros when he's stressed out of his mind pondering where to throw the glitter on his floor poison..........i will show where the #$#@&# glitter goes if you pull that stunt again Dave :hammer:

We all know where the glitter should have gone. Why he's wasting it on the floor is beyond me.
Well, Andrew, I hope your tank comes back quick.. it's the total sh$ts when it goes south. Taints your entire perspective...
She'll be glittering again soon enough. Hang in, my friend!

LOL dave sounds like a character from a TV show.

The non cluttered scape definitely looks great though Andrew! It always sucks losing pieces, but nobody whose been in this hobby more than a year or two thinks nothing bad will ever happen to them.

The silver lining is you have more room, and don't have to upgrade to a 3 meter tank to appease your fans

Good to hear you have bounced back.

Thanks Kevin :)

Thanks Matt, just a matter of waiting a month or two and we'll both be firing on all cylinders again i'm sure ;)

Thanks Tim, Dave is like Dexter to acros lately so i guess you could say he's like a TV character........

Left side is an echi stick i've had 2 months, right side is the stick Dave tried to murder with his DIY acro euthanasia kit. :hammer:

LOL, gotta love those tangs.

When you get close they swim right up, look you in the eye, and without saying a word communicate "...Food?"

Hope you dont mind me posting the video Andrew. But considering all, the tank looks very nice!

I really like the SPS Snowman. Keep well matey. :)

Really sorry to here of your troubles lately bud.
I have every faith in your ability to turn the tank around . I've just ( more than likely killed )
An lovely nana of mine all because of a test kit error compounded by my knee jerk reaction of whacking my reactor up before retesting. Massive dkh swing was the result . But I hope I caught it in time I've lost a toki a few nana frags and more than likely the mother colony which is about 12 x 10 inches .
Any way thought someone else woes might cheer you up a bit . Also bulents only gone and won tank of the month on the other forum he uses. So a bit more good news for you .

Tangs are awesome SPS reef fish Tim, i miss my yellow tang a lot for the yellow pop he brought to the display.

Saw the latest Biggles tube video. Never knew you had so many fish. tanks looks good.

Marty

Thanks Marty, i lost two anthias and my royal gramma to ich in the last month so it's not as good as it might appear mate.

I really don't see any cylinders not firing here!

Nothing's growing Matt, same old story for me :twitch:

Hey Sahin, the tank is coming good again mate. Over time i'm going to reduce the number of pieces and make the whole display dominant in just my favorite acros and or species. I think no more than ten or so acros will end up dominating the display eventually. :)

Thanks mate, i was very pleased to see Bulent recognised for his wonderful SPS display. It's reefs like his and Conor's with big mature colonies that i admire most - Scotty's cube is ridiculously beautiful for the same reason.

The tips of this turn electric blue when it's not in low light like now. I took a frag of this to Deer Park months back and no one wanted it so it died and got binned. I will show all you acro snobs what you are never going to get a look at again when my colony lights back up in the display........

Some stuff for Dave, a small way of saying thank you for being such a good guy and friend, i wouldn't have any nice acros if it wasn't for Dave :)

Not growing? Look at all the encrusting going on. That's growth..
Colours continue to be astoundingly good.
If they want to encrust until they feel comfortable, let'em have at it, I say.
The scape, the colour palette and coral placement are sublime.
Time to hurry up and wait it out, my 'never quite right' friend.
Just imagine how much worse it could be!
You could have Dave coming over to repolish your floors with his 'environmentally friendly' finish.

Dat purple with gold polyps man, that thing is sick

It's not a run of the mill acro that's for sure Tim :) I have a colony of it right behind this piece which is going to make quite the contrast lol.

You're as bad as bloody Dom Matt, i know he thinks i'm being too picky about my colors even though he lies and says otherwise.......... :twitch:

I have a coral growing that always brings you to mind Matt......... i'll grab a pic now and i reckon you'll see why mate ;)
