Little Kenny goes off his nut when a wrasse spits sand on his echi lol. He starts chucking sand off and waving his tiny claws over his head like he's giving the tank a mouthful......... the wrasses can't get to the acro crabs and i've never seen one even try tbh.

Moby is only 3.5" long and the same length as both the blue and yellow tangs. I must make a video of the tangs attacking the magnetic vegi clip (love that thing). If you were a little woman made of nori and you went for a swim in my display they'd rip you to pieces Mindy

You're welcome to beat the crap out of the wrasses anytime Matt after they tried to kill a certain favorite critter of mine a while back.......... that's right, Santa came early on Xmas eve when i was shining the torch in the display and discovered a very sick looking and wrasse chewed shrimp. He was on the 6095 in the dark with all his feelers eaten off and his tail almost gone.
I put my hand in beside him and he slowly crawled on - i was actually saying stuff out loud the whole time like ' c'mon buddy i won't let those bastards hurt you again '......... i sat him back on the pump and grabbed a net and when he hopped on again i simply placed the net under my hand and took him out.
Since that day he lives in the sump and has been hand fed 3-4 times a day when the fish are fed. He molted two days ago and now has some feelers and a tail again, he's going to be fine which is more than i can say for those bastards that tried to eat him. I'm going to get him a sump fish buddy to hang out with and keep him company.

I do feel terrible that i left him while he was being attacked when i thought he was dead and wedged under the rock the wrasses were going nuts at.

Happy new year Andrew. You have some lucky fishes in your tank with all that space around them. I like the lighting arrangement. I bet you would struggle with LEDs. You would need very many of them to create the kind of brightness you have over those corals. The way you laid out your corals with minimal live rock reminds of Tony B's tank in the UK. It simply looks brilliant.

What is the outside temperature over there at the moment? I heard that it is boiling. Can you cook an egg on the tarmac?

Thanks Bulent, I could never afford the number of Radion fixtures i'd require to match the light fill i have with the Radiums and T5's. If i had plenty of cash i'm pretty confident i could tweak those things to closely match the results of my current lighting. When anyone asked for the spectral plot i would give out a dodgy made up version as i don't like sharing secret color tweaking stuff as you know...........
Tony's reef is beautiful, i remember reading his TOTM article when he was recognised for the wonderful display he created. Very inspiring and he uses bugger all electronic equipment to do it so he's my kind of guy

It was 42.2 at 6pm under my back patio in the shade on New years eve - my 3800W aircon / tank chiller kept myself and the reef in 22 degree comfort though - you can cook meat in your car but it takes about 2 hours to bake a steak to medium rare I checked the locked up acro ute which was out in the sun and the cabin was 67 degrees.

Morons in this country still leave their kids and dogs in cars every year during summer and the police have to smash windows in baking hot car parks to rescue them. I saw on tv the other day a new parental cop out - 'forgotten child syndrome' which means it's not your fault. Anyone who wants to run with that one will be going into the acro ute cab for a couple of hours for a medium rare reality check..........:deadhorse1:

I knew you'd like that acro, i was looking at it and in the background Dave was saying ' there's not much in the tank you'd like sorry........' :lmao: He cracks me up because he still hasn't worked out that he will never be able to predict what will and won't catch the eye of an SPS reefer. I was looking for acros with light bright pigments to lighten up the left island and that glowy little piece fit the bill perfectly. :thumbsup:

It's a pretty green though mate lol...........

The little piece on the left also fit the bill perfectly to contrast against the deeper saturated piece on the right. It's coloring back up well and you can see the rich bluey purple pigment starting to cover the purple again.

Those are some sweet new acros! I'm really liking the pulled back FTS too. It shows how nice your tank is. I'm sure it's been covered in this thread already, I might have even already asked, but do you dip your new corals? If so, what dip do you prefer? Thanks, and Happy New Year bud!

I'm confused; are you running your reef at 22 degrees C? Isnt that quite low as far as reefs go? What temp does your reef run between? Do you allow fluctuations?
