Chad's generous donation to the raffle table last month gave me an idea for a private party raffle table donation program. I'd like to run it by you guys. Its pretty simple.
For evey $10 of livestock and/or dry goods you donate for the raffle table you get 1 raffle ticket.
All donations are valued by their regional (Sacramento) market rate. In other words, what you could get for them if you sold them here on RC or on Kraigs List (spelled wrong on purpose). The donator values the donations. If you're not sure ask.
I realize this will probably be mostly livestock and will impact the DBTC program.
The unfortunate truth is that the club needs the money. We're down to $5K. We used to spend that in a single year on speakers alone. Back in those days we could count on $1-2K from the two yearly frag swaps, $3-4K from raffle table sales and $2-3K from membership dues.
All those numbers are way down. The board has cut back on expenses. I suspect we are still operating at a loss.
This would also take some of the stress of the club's relationship with the local fish stores. We wouldn't rely on them for
It would also take some of the stress off the public relations officer that solicits the donations.
We could even have a prize for the largest annual donations.
