Starting this tank has been fun ive learned a lot of new things ever since my last build and ive learned a lot of "what to do and what not to do's". This hobby as ive learned is a lot of trial and error and there only one wya to figure stuff out do it untill it works.

Id like to thank The J Man for the brand new 75 and used 30 long for my sump its was a great deal! As far aas the stand i bought it from a lfs and re-did the fram work for more support for the 75. Now ive never built ap eninsula style aquascape or used a tank for that style build but its been fun.

Equipment:
2x1050gph Koralia Powerheads
1xEshopps Overflow box (HOB)
2x250w Jager Heaters
Odyssea 2x250w MH 4xbulb t-5(New Style Fixture)
Skimmer(Undecided)
BRS Eco Rocks
Aragonite Sand

Will post pictures of the aquascape in the tank all thats left is to put some water in the tank and its good to go!

More to come with updates

Why not drill that tank before you have water in it instead of the HOB overflow box?

Looking forward to the build!

Knew this question was coming haha...i have the hob overflow on my other 75 and never have ran into a problem ever

Drill it, its much cleaner and simpler imo, all my tanks have been drilled and I cant imagine i would do it any other way.

Why do you have two 75 gals, moving one over or two separate tanks?

Even better, drill two holes and do a Herbie. If I were in your shoes I would be glad to have an undrilled tank since it's like a blank canvas. You can put the holes and the box wherever you want, which can be really helpful in a peninsula configuration. You don't have to deal with a typical corner overflow which looks like crap in a tank visible from three sides.

Open-channel drains are going the way of the dinosaur in this hobby, with good reason. Once you've had a full siphon drain you'll never go back.

2 seperate tanks but in the long run might condense it down to one tank.

why not just build that bigger tank, instaed of dual 75s? I would hate to take care of two unless it was a temporary thing.

Jesse and I were going to drill it before other things happened resulting in us having to sell the tank. We bought it undrilled purposely so that we could place the overflows and returns exactly where we wanted them. If I could do it all over, I'd have had the 40 long we currently have drilled as well instead of using overflow boxes. You live and you learn. Next time, when we can set up a bigger tank.....

And show some pics of the set up!!!!

i would rather have the 2 incase one problem occurs in one tank i can take advantage and make sure it dosnt happen in the other...but over time it will be condensed into one tank the peninsula

I said that also when I added the 72, now I'm happy it's on the main system.

If you don't mind drilling, it is nice!

Pascal you do have a hob or is it drilled?

I never ran the HOB style overflow. When I made the move into corals I looked at them and couldn't take the risk of it failing. I know what 50 gallons of salt water spread from the 2nd floor to the basement looks like and how much effort it takes to repair everything (that was from a canister filter)

I ran my old 5' 125 with HOB overflows, and I've had one or two small tanks with them. Are they dangerous? Can be. But, in a pinch, they do work, if you're "stuck" with using them.

That said, if I was starting a new build and had a tank that was drillable (not tempered glass) I would positively absolutely 100% drill it, without hesitation.

The tank is definitely drillable.....only the bottom is tempered. I checked twice before I had originally bought it. lol.

If Jesse and I still had it, we'd definitely have drilled it, and any tank we set up in the future will be drilled as well. More reliable and safe, and definitely looks a LOT better.

Drillllll itttttt! I know we already discussed it but be patient, save up some of the money to get the equipment and get that puppy drilled!
