Acclimation procedure for maxima?

I am looking at purchasing a maxima clam and understand the lighting and feeding requirements of it. I did a brief search and didn't find too much on the topic except some general statements on acclimation. I understand you don't need to QT them but wondered what were the proper acclimation procedures? Will just a simple dip for an hour or so do the trick? It was in a metal halide tank and then spent the past few days in a T5 tank and now going to my metal halide tank. Thanks

Slow drip acclimation for approx. 30 - 45 minutes. Quick acclimation can cause it a good deal of stress. Check it's shell, underside and shutes for any pyramidal snails. Brush the shell with a toothbrush if you find any. Good luck with your new acquisition.

so I brought the clam homw now and am acclimating it. I bought it from a local reefer in a parking lot with dark lighting so I couldn't see too much. When I brought the clam home and inspected it, it has bubble algae all over the shell. I don't really know much at all about bubble algae but I do know that clams need really intense light. I don't know if I should put it in my display tank or what to do with it. HELP!

sorta twist the bubbles off without breaking them. but qt is abso mandatory now! use a small tank with light movement. all you need. demand yr $$ back if possible. has it opened any more?

most likely pyram bstrds. if the seller is a local reefer, get a refund! that's obscene

The item pictured - aptaisia will definitely cause the clam not to open as it will sting the mante. Remove all of it and see what happens. Not sure about the pyramids as the pic is fuzzy, but if you see them, remove them with a tootbrush or tweezers until they're all gone.

that's gonna be a diff aiptasia to remove! i hav no ideas

You can try to make a paste mixture of pickling lime with RO water - dip the end of a toothpick into it and put it into the center of the aiptasia. Do not get any of the mixture inside the clam or on the mantle. The aiptasia should die if you can do this before it closes up.
