Achilles Tang Golden Rim Hybrid

DD has this amazing fish. I have never seen this hybrid before it looks amazing.

I saw him earlier. They recommended a 100 gallon minimum which was interesting. Pretty cool, but I prefer a more orange flame on the tail.

A buddy of mine keeps an Achilles, with a Powder Blue, a yellow a mustard tang and a gem. The fish get along and dont fight. Is it because they are different shapes? The Achilles and the Powder seem to be from the same species.

I'ts possible, and they are from the same family = acanthurus.
I tried a powder blue and an achilles but it didnt work, the powder blue killed the achilles very quickly. And they were brought in at the same time in a 500g tank and they spent 6 weeks in QT together so I don't know why the powder blue suddenly realised he hated the achilles.

A few months later I introduced a powder brown in my tank. The powder blue just snapped and was furious, he almost killed the new guy and didn't allow him to come out of the rocks at all. Constant chasing. Then after 4 days I came home from work and they were swimming side by side.

Wow can't believe I missed that! The Achilles and hybrids captured from Hawaii are my favorite fish in the trade! I have a Achilles 3",orange shoulder3", tomini 3",and a desjardini sailfin 4.5" in my tank without issues and would add a Achilles/white cheek hybrid like the one I have for my avatar if I could find one! DD has had the Achilles/gold rim hybrid before, someone got lucky

I see them locally here about 4-6 times a year as well as the PBT/white cheek hybrid.

I had one. It acted more like a gold rim than an Achilles. Mine was a good citizen, but it was kept well fed with plenty of room.

No, got too big, so went to live in a 2000G tank at a local hospital. It grew about 2 inches in a year and was about 5/8" thick when I got rid of it.

I had this fish before we knew what it was and before it was cool to have them. About 6 months after I got it, LA started to have them on their site for high dollar. I got it for about $30-40 as "unknown tang" from a hawaiian collector.

Just got Achilles goldrim hybrid today! From DD. about 3inches in a 55gl QT now. I have 3 Achilles, powder blue , and a black spot tang in the same tank! All get alone fine! PBT is the boss but he is the largest!

Ridem32 has several tanks but I do know the 3 Achilles are all in the same tank. We all sold our soul to the $ devil when we became obsessed with this hobby!

Reefphamer: I got another tank with a black tang about 7inches 2 purples 1 yellow 1 blue hippo 2 pairs of clown fish. They all get alone Go to Achilles primer I think that's the thread and you can click on my YouTube link and see video of my tangs! I'm not real good with forums yet! Got a nice HT Aussie today! Already had one HT might try to put them in same tank after he goes thru QT!
