TC269 remember that these people word is not that of god... get a small healthy one if you like..,..

No, but the advice here is offered in the best interest of the livestock and the aquarist.

Not to mention the love and experience that these people have involved with their "hobby." Always a good thing when something spends the years of it's life growing with you and escalating your entertainment. 10yrs experience you should have a coral that fits this bill already.

Just an update on my achilles. He is doing great, and FAT. He is very easy going for an achilles. He is not aggresive in the least.
He flex's his fins when the purple and much bigger orange shoulder come to close to his food. LOL Thats it though, All the fish get along really great. He is eating nori, mysis, flake, and pellets. He absolutely go's nutty for the pellets. I dump anything else in and he swims around eating it, But when i add pellets he is like a trigger. LOL Eats them very aggressively. Thats a good thing, Because mysis is going to be a treat for them of 1-2 times a week. Mostly pellets and nori will be fed from now on.
I can cut the feedings down to 3 times a day, and eventually 2 times a day.
The swimming behavior of my achilles is different from my other tangs i have or had. The other tangs swim around slowly and graze on the rocks. He will do that too, But will swim off in a flurry, Then stop head off to the top near the flow of the powerheads and catch a wave back. He is a very active fish.
He is swimming non stop unless he is picking on the rocks.
I am going to add a bit more flow in my tank. I have 2 tunze 6201's and a tunze 6125. I'll be adding 4 penductors off of a reeflo blackfin.

Thought I'd share my recent experience as well. I ordered one last weekend from LiveAquaria (not DD, just the regular location). It arrived and looked very healthy, I acclimated it over 3 hours (they shipped it in water with a salinity of 1.021, my reef is at 1.026), and added it to the display. I've had QTs in the past, but my capabilities were limited to about 30 gallons and I did not think that placing this fish in a tank that size would be giving it its best chances. Not that I didnt appreciate the risk I was taking.

Anyways, it's the only surgeonfish in my 150 gallon display with 80 gallon sump. I have a foxface and sargassum trigger as well, and for flow there are 4 tunze 6100s. The first day or two, the fish only nipped at rocks, but I made certain to have nori in the tank which the other fish did eat. On the third day the achilles started nipping at nori, and it's only gotten better since then. We're on day 9 now, and the fish swims right over to the nori clip whenever I add a fresh sheet and eager attacks it (much more than simply nipping as it used to do). While it doest eat anything else I add to the water column, I'm hoping that comes in time and I'm offering nori regularly.

Here's a shot of it yesterday, setting up at the cleaning station with the goby.

ya mine is doing great too. eating well and just generally looking happy. He is a real hog for the nori, thats for sure. At any rate i am happy and he looks great in my underpopulated 120. I plan an upgrade in year or two, so i am not worried.

I thought so too in another thread he had when he posted pics.
I agree, Maybe soaking the nori in fatty aminos will help. I would try to get him on some meaty foods, and them pellets.

My Achilles' stomach started to cave in due to his active swimming. He just goes nuts swimming around the tank.
I have been feeding him round the clock when possible. With Nori soaked in Zoe and Selcon, he's starting to fatten up again...

Keep on it and keep trying to change it up on him. Little guys are hyper and need some snacks throughout the day. Please keep us updated. I wanna see you posting pics of him still in a few years

Thanks, I bought some other seaweeds, including red a purple to go along with the green that I've been using, and he was tearing it up yesterday on the red. Definitely an eager eater these days, and I'm hopeful that it keeps up.
