acro eating snail- hitchiker from lfs

im not going to say which lfs in the thread but you can pm for info.

this guy came in on a maricultured colony (which i never buy :hmm5: grrr)

definitely eats acropora- i think even montipora but i could be mistaken. did a little research and apparently im not the first person to encounter them. few other threads regarding these guys. heres a picture for reference.

Had the same looking snail making a snack of a maricultured stag I got from an lfs. I always cut the bases off maricultured frags now.

I had a similar experience. Got a mariculture stag and within a few days the base was completely dead. Looked closer and found a snail that looked exactly like that. I was brand new to the hobby so didn't know that snails like this existed. I would have hoped that the LFS would quickly inspect the colonies before selling them….its really not too hard to spot them if you know what you're looking for.
