Acronics sps Peninsula

The two new clown fish have disappeared! what the H-E double hockey sticks. Man they were sweet too...

Had to slap on the hip waders this morn cuz I overflowed my sump! Im such an idiot lol. I was making RO last night for a WC today and stupid me left the ball valve open on the salt mixing bucket, slowly filling the sump with RO while I slept off the booze. The tank has dropped to 1.021 SG and I could notice something was wrong the second I looked at the tank. Everything is still alive and looks ok but very angry. I was looking forward to a relaxing morning with a nice cup of coffee and some bacon and eggs but it has turned into a hangover nightmare.

Happy new year everyone, I hope yall started it off on a better foot that I lol

happy new year guys

i'm still identifyin y'all to those faces ive met in the fish stores though

Those are some magnificent SPS you have!Is the first picture a Pokerstar Monti?Or a rainbow Monti from Vivid?

Ouch Kevin!! Really ouch!! It's happened to me...not once but twice...maybe more but I won't admit it lol.
Now I keep 2 alarms on timers whenever filling water, even if I'm wide awake. And also towels ready just incase :D

Overflows are suckers for Murphy's Law! :hammer:

Lol that's a bummer - learned a while back 'drunk' me cannot touch the tank- bc silly things happen -

True say, true say
The sad part is that I was sober when I started making water then got drunk at a friends and passed out without checking the tank...

I also use storage bins, just one of them has a bulkhead and ball valve to do WC's with and I left the ball valve open. :headwalls:

Its happened to me more that I care to admit aswell! I want to set up a drain line for such occasions but fear that the problem would go unnoticed longer.

OK, this page needs some pics! Its hard to keep up :D I grabbed two nice SPS! I'll hazard a guess and say one is a hoeksemai or some blue/purple stag and the other has pearlberry colors but I'm not convinced, help me out if you know what they are. Tank is still off kilter but it's chuggin' along. I'm very happy with how she's

Nice pics man! tank is looking good. Looks to be in great shape despite the algae issues youre obviously still battling. Some of the best times in my tanks have been during algae outbreaks im guessing due to having plenty of nutrients and lower lighting due to usually old bulbs...who knows. Keep up the great work Kevin!

Are you actively battling the algae?

Thanks bud.

Other than WC's I'm not doing anything special to combat the algae. The skimmer overflowed a couple weeks ago and a noticeable bloom ensued. Once the bryposis was taken care of I relaxed a little. I bet if I scrubbed the system down medical grade style for a few weeks it would clear up nice. Oh and I stopped using GFO last week. I just want to see how the tank reacts without it for a couple weeks. So far Its looking like GFO is worth its weight in gold though and I'm sure I'll be back to using it.

Yeah i have done the same in the past with gfo and I always go back even since starting vodka. I just see better color and health in my tank with its use. Plus algae turns brown and thins so that says it all. Put it back online man, you need it! lol

Yesss GFO use it Kevin!!
I have my vote on it.
Pics look beautiful and the tank's blossoming into a pretty dreamy bonsai like picture.
Grow SPS growwwww. Would be so cool to see em branching out of ur aquascape :)
Happy Reefing!!

Thanks buddy much appreciated! Groww baby grow is right. Yelling negative criticisms is working on the German Blue polyp monti.

I can't wait for the tank to really start blooming! Im impatient though.

Picked this up about a week ago. It was brown and ugly but I could see that the terminal polyps were purple so I scooped it up and it is turning into a nice piece. I believe it is Acropora Austera.
