Acronics sps Peninsula

Doing good, little hair Algae.

You did everything you could have done, after all you didn't cause power outtage. When your back in Ottawa pop me a msg we can chat over a beer.

A pic of my two monsters, just bored passing the time till the tank is ready for SPS. I think this may actually be the most excited Ive been during a tank start up. I feel Like a kid trapped in time on x-mas eve...

Man it is super tough to photograph with the LED lights. Granted this is just my Iphone, lets hope the underwater camera tells a different story.

Man I was really looking forward to seeing an update to your thread.
Not really what I was looking forward to seeing though.

Moving is horrible enough anyway, much less having to move a reeftank. What a nightmare yours turned out to be. That has got to be devastating.

To take a blow like that and be already re-set up like you are, new avitar, ready to go again, you definitely get extra bad a$$ points from me.

Thanks for the bad a$$ point Steve! much appreciated and ill need em' Ill try to whip em' out around xmas time

Dude Im so peeved, the sps were really colorful but limited growth since the flame angel started getting nippy :uzi: but overall the system was good. I was leaving the tank alone during the summer being bogged down with selling the house ect.. and it was responding well to the calmness. sadly I have no photos since my last update. But not to dwell on that Everything is going well so far so Im pretty pumped for this setup.

I already have a pretty bad a$$ fish list in my mind for this tank, Its a little crazy so bear with me here. Not particularly in this order but ruffly;

Royal Gramma
trio of FireFish
7 Caribbean Blue Reef Chromis
Pair of Ocellaris Clowns
Yasha Haze Goby / pistol pair
Pair of Dragon face/Reef Top pipefish
Trio of Barnicle Blennys
Rainfords Goby
Pearly Jawfish
Pair of Bellus Angels
Japanese Masked Swallowtail Male
Trio of Anthias
Red Velvet Fairy Wrasse
Leapord Wrasse
Potters Wrasse
Pearly China Wrasse
Achilies Tang or Powder Blue Tang

The only things Im worried about on this list are the Leapord and Potters Wrasse not getting along and the large size of the list

Coral wise, ive got a few ideas for the aquascape but thats a surprise for future photos to unveil. Good news, The canary is showing signs of PE, still keeping almost hourly tabs on it.

Wow....I really admire your persistence. That seems to be how we addicts start....either by getting lucky of the hop or persistence. I'm of the persistant group as well......4 years of yo yo rollacoaster (2 moves in there as well)......till I set up my 200g probably. So maybe this is the tank that will give you no troubles.

haha Ill believe it when I see it pffft Lets just say the shelf I use to put my hopes up on was torn down and re-installed at about knee level ;D There that should do it...

As for being persistent, I think some of the best things happen in my life after a hard day of elbow grease but dont get me wrong im known for my procrastination skills or as I like to call them, my beer drinking skills.

Acronic, sorry to hear of your troubles, as noted above, you definitely get points for persistence! The new set-up looks good. Reef tank, dogs, baby on the way (we just had our first 3 weeks ago) - we're on the same planet my friend. Get those corals placed now and the fish in, you're going to be busy!

haha life in the fast lane buddy!

noted! already started to chip away at the fish list :) gifts from the wife believe it or not muhuhahahahahahah

you know I cant do that lol.. I have a few ideas but it has to be covered. The cat took a dip in there while it was still freshwater and gunner tries to sneak in there and drink the water!!! so not just for baby safety but pets too. Im looking for magnets to recess into some malamine maybe but still unsure how to make it work

Lee valley tools carries some sick magnets that are donut shaped and you can recess into your wood frame with a simple screw. They are really powerful and hold a lot of weight. You screw in a washer type striker on the panel side. I used them on the front of my hood, the whole of my front panel comes on and off.

Below you can see them on the right side and along the wood trim at the bottom of the shot

thanks for the lead, those look perfect! still need some kind of lock mechanism that looks half decent but thats the easy part. Ill check lee valley luckly I spotted one in my travels the other day

I figured you must have some kind of plan.
Doesn't look like it is gonna be easy though.

I think your dogs could just drink right out of the top of your DT if they really wanted to. :)

LOL that was a good chuckle! Boa can lift the lid of the skimmer with his nose. I should add that he is about 7 to 7.5 feet tall standing on his hind legs but he would never jump on the tank ever

My main issue is the 1.5 inch pipe coming out the front of the sump. not enough clearance to get something flush with the DT pane

Just finished reading the whole thread, whew what a roller coaster ride.
I wish you and your family the best for the future and most of all a healthy baby. I´m sure your tank will be kicking again very soon :)

Thanks Lars! It sure has been alot of ups and downs...

The tank is already kicking! The "canary" an A. Plana is doing exceptionally well and showing great improvement in polyp extention. Colour is still weak, not too pale but faded. Flesh looks juicy and healthy. Couple finishing touches left on the setup and its complete :)
