Acropora abrotanoides?

Years ago (about 7?) A. abrotanoides was usually considered difficult, if not impossible, to keep in captivity. Has this changed? I've always wanted one, and have an SPS-dominant tank...just didn't want to get one if it wouldn't do well. Any tips on keeping one?

Abrotanoides is still a very finicky coral IME along with latistella and hoeksemai. Sorry, i dont have any trade secrets to keeping them... :(

Wow, well, at least I know that I didn't wait this long to ask for no reason. That's too bad...such a gorgeous Acro.

I had one that I could never figure out. STN, then it would turn around and start re-encrusting, back and forth, always losing ground in the net equation. I finally had it making ground around December of last year... then my tank crashed.

I could never correlate the growth/recession with anything.

I've had one for a year+ now. No clue why it's happy in my system. I might be mistaken, but I think it's rigleautomotive who has a really amazing one in his tank.

^ I've heard these are very difficult from just about everyone. I purchased mine before doing research on it. If I would have known their track record, I definitely wouldn't have bought it. It's weird because my tank has been through it all, and it still seems happy.

I've got one. I almost lost it but it's been slowly growing back over the past couple years. High flow, high light for me.

the one i had grew a huge base, covering neighboring corals, never branched out and was solid green except where it was being blasted with my MP40. then my alk dropped two years later and it didnt respond well.

This is correct. Dan has a deep Red abro that he has had for a few years now, and is fragging it and Unique Corals is selling it with his name on it.

Really cool to see "aquacultured" become a reality on this species.
