acros for dinner :(

Wow, a similarity is there between your damage and mine. The lfs gave me some silversides and a trap to lure him in. I plan on staying up tonight to look for other offenders too. It's to the Sump for the lightfoots!

No luck yet. I borrowed an acrylic trap to attempt to catch the lightfoot, because I saw him on top of my corals. I put it at the entrance to his cave, and he tried to get in after the silverside, but he couldn't do it. (or didn't want to try that hard) I tried to use the crabbing meathod of meat on string, and slowly pulling him up and netting it, but to no avail. If i dangle the silverside in front of him, he grabs it, but won't let go of the rocks. It's impossible to scoop him up. I figured if it works for Blue Crabs, it would work in this case, but not sally lightfoots! :( I am now attempting to stab him with a grilling fork whenever he is close enough. I am "upgrading" from my 90 AGA to a Miracles 100 gal rimless in a week or so. I will try to keep him at bay until then. I tried to get a picture of him on the coral, but as soon as he saw me...woosh! back into the rocks. This is war!

No new tips have been nipped off in the past week, and I am moving the tank within the next week or so. Figured I'd ask in here instead of a new thread:

Since my tank is only going across the room, would it be bad to turn a 20 gallon junk tank I have into a place for corals until the move is complete? I'd hang a pendant over it, and add a powerhead. (All the water would be current tank water, the rest will go in a rubbermaid garbage can with the LR) Will the corals "know" they are somewhere new for a bit? Anyone else try this when moving a tank?

that's probably the least stressful way of doing it .

its a crab, i have an emerald crab named Gohliath. It did the exact same thing to one of my Acros. I thought it was my Bellus angel at first untill whisperer mentioned emeral crab. Its placed right above the crabs hide out where i havent seen him change location in months.

I literally just went downstairs to see the crab as lights out was an hour ago. What do you know he was "tree hugging" the acro. I apologize to my beloved well mannered Bellus angel. I sumped the emerald right away. Scared the crap outta me too, I reached in to snagg him off the acro and he spread his arms open ready to attack. his arm span is a good 3.5 inches. i took a pic but my camera is acting up.

Thanks Whisperer, helping Tiffy helped me save my acro!!!

yay!!! anyone want a sally lightfoot once I get the bugger out?! I dont want to sump him, he looks like a spider to me now, and i hate spiders. +1 to the 3.5 inch span, thats about what the SLF is now....scary.

So agreement that the best way to keep the stress level down is to make a mini tank?

upgraded to a Miracles Rimless 100 gallon today.....moved my rock and corals slowly.....
then i found this guy. The sound that came out of my mouth made my husband come running like a maniac. So now im unclear if it was the sally lightfoot, or this brute. About 2 feet long when stretched out....it was black. And mean. I don't know what to do with it.....:strange:

Yes, the possibility of a worm came up, and I dismissed it. Honestly because I didnt want to think of finding a worm when I had to move the rock. Plus I watched the tank so much at night over the past year that I figured I would have seen it by now. Dead wrong. sslak....right on the money!

O. M. G. that's the stuff nightmares are made of.

See if a FOWLR owner or an aggressive-only owner wants it, you should be able to find someone to take it off of your hands.

Yuuuuuuccccckkkkkkk

LOL, reminded me of when I was young and refused to goto the washroom for a week after watching an X-files episode where some bobbit worm/man alien came out of the toilet
