ADA 120-P + Elos Mini dual NPS tank journal

I'll try to collect all the cell counts given for all the phyto products on the market so we can compare actual cell counts. Then I'll make a calculator so it'll be easy for people to figure out how many cells they are putting in. IMO this should help immensely in figuring out the proper amount to use in the long run :)

that would be incredibly appreciated!!!!!!

the chironephthya I recently got from DD is finally starting to show some signs of life

Gresham if you could break down the concentration of each species in PF that would be great too. Especially the synechococcus (the main reason I am trying this instead of IA).
I don't think they'll let me break down the recipe like that, but I will ask :D

I don't feed it anything special. Just the same broadcast feeding as all the corals get on an hourly basis. I'm seeing some more polyp extension and tissue inflation but still looking pretty beat up.

Well my ADA tank looks fully stocked now. I was planning to transfer a few corals over from the Elos and seeing how it looked but I ended up staying up all night to transfer almost all of the corals over. The tank looks pretty wild. Unfortunately I won't be able to get pics until after christmas as I'm going out of town tomorrow AM.

The elos is going to be filled with waratah anemones and sponges. There is a waratah coming up on DD tonight if anyone is interested. I'm still waiting to hear back from DD on some specifics but I've found a few cases of people keeping them successfully for years at low reef temps (70 - 75). I think some of it has to do with where they were collected too. DD lists the temp requirements as 65 - 75. I keep my tank at 71 - 73.

Oh yeah I moved the blueberry gorg to the elos. It seemed like it just wasn't getting enough food in the ADA. The elos tends to concentrate more of the food since it is smaller, so maybe this will help. Otherwise it looks like it needs to be target fed multiple times a day and broadcast feeding is not enough.

I used to keep them with broadcast feeding a few times throughout the day... Once of my favorite gorg...

Mike do you want a bunch of those anemones? They are grow like weeds in my tank on any surface they can find. I got rid of about two dozen babies this week and you are more than welcome to some. I keep them at 71 and they do fine at that temp with no lighting at all.

Mike

Hey Mike I would be interested. I've read that they spread like aiptasia. I'm hoping to have them cover all the rock surfaces in the elos.

That is correct...they multiply just like gremlins. You will find them in all sorts of places you wouldn't think of (inside the skimmer, inside the pellet reactor, inside the return pump).

Mike

Joost they are the same coloration as the ones above. Bases on babies are around .25". If I get home at a decent hour tonight, I will try to take a picture of them and email it over.

DD emailed me some more info on the ones they have available:

Thank you for contacting LiveAquaria. The Red Flower Anemones have been at our facility for approximately 6 weeks. They were collect near Broome, Australia; on the north-east side of the country in shallow water. The system we are keeping them in is 76 degrees and has T5 lighting and a high water flow. This tank was fed multiple times a day with a mixture of frozen ova, cyclops, and a coral food mixture by H2O Life.

As I said, tank is fully stocked now haha

I think I can now say that most of the corals in this tank have been with me for over a year, several of them survived all my mistakes in the beginning.

Tomorrow I'll be getting a couple of waratah anemones and then I'll start adding some sponges for the elos mini.

Thanks guys.

Harald you can copy but I would appreciate it if you gave me the link where you posted the pics. Thanks for asking first. I have actually found entire webpages on my Elos tank which I knew nothing about, some of them put up by foreign vendors trying to sell some of the same equipment I have used.

Someone on another forum mentioned I could cover the overflow with black acrylic, so I'm looking into having that done next. Its too difficult to really clean it well I can barely fit my hand in there so the black should help ease the eye sore.
