Adding a ph probe to my calcium reactor, drill&tapping

So I wanted to add a PHProbe directly to my Calcium Reactor without buying a new lid with probe port for $65-80 ,so I bought a 1/2" ph probe fitting $6.95 and made sure I could fit it on the lid of my Reactor ( korallin reactor ). The I drilled the lid with a 45/64 Drill bit and then tapped 1/2" threads in the hole I drilled a little Teflon tape and tightened fitting. See pictures attached
TOOLS NEEDED,
DRILL,
45/64 DRILL BIT,
1/2" NPT TAP
1/2" probe holder fitting

Looks good.
I went a different route which might be helpful to those with less tools. Cut the upflow pipe added a 1/2 tee with a threaded to slip to slip. In the threaded spot, I used a 1/2 od push fitting (the size of a ph probe). Been working for 5 years now.

Actually it's a 3/8 inch fitting

Are you sure? IIRC I did this same set up with a JG fitting and it was 1/2"

Also note, if you are careful you can drill out the stop ring in the fitting allowing the probe to slide in farther. I swear I did that with a 1/2" drill on a drill press :)
