adding an anemone to a tank question...

Im goin to be moving in a couple months. I will be rinsing my sand bed in the main tank, its less then a yr old and only 3 small damsels in the whole 220g tank. so the sand should be minimally dirty, goin to replace the sand in the fuge. all rock work will be submerged during transport. I have about or better then 350lbs of aged live rock. so when resetting up the tank. any cycle should be minimal. how long after this initial set up should I wait to add an anemone. I will have a normal water change cycle of 30gs every 2 weeks upon resetting up this tank. so again, how long after the reset up can I assume it would be safe to add an anemone?

Once the tank finish with the algae cycle you can add anemone. I think of the algae bloom as a cycle of the micro nutrients, and think of the ammonia/nitrate cycle as cycle of the macro nutrients.

If you keep you rock and sand submerged, and rinse the sand with salt water, you may not have a cycle at all.

When I added my first Gigantea, I added it to my QT which is a 24 g cube that have been running for years. I took the rock out and scrub it in salt water. Vaccume all the sand, change near 100% of the water then add the anemone 4 days later. He did great.

I thought I was gunna have to rinse the sand with fresh water since it takes so much water per rinse. I was goin to put a curtain amount of sand in a tote and rinse with fresh water since it would take so many rinses per each tote of sand. How would you recommend doin it with saltwater?

vacuuming the sand sound like a really good idea tho. like ive said the tank will have been set up for less then 10 total months, and only have 3 small damsels in it for this whole time. so I really thought the sand should be minimally dirty, if anything most of the problem would probably be the detritus that sits ontop of the sand in dead spots under the rock work. so im thinking as im draining the tank, I could simply just vacuum it while draining it... main reason I was goin to rinse it is for cloudiness purposes. wanted to avoid that day long of cloudiness before I was able to aqua scape the rocks...

All you need to do is stir up the sand, all the way through. Let it settle. All the small particle will be on top. Vacuum it and you are done.
It won't be crystal clear when you add it back to the new tank, but it will not mater.

I know it wont be crystal clear, im not that naïve lol. but it will cut down on the cloudiness to where ill be able to aquascape right away when resetting it back up. than you for your input orionN, made things a lil easier for me by suggesting this....
