adding/dosing milk?

I just posted my curiosity to this stuff also in sps forums. There's a guy from Taiwan who claims to dose soy milk and honey as his additives. Just wanted to know more myself or if anyone tried?

It adds a lot of nutrients. I'm not sure what it's feeding, although I'm sure bacteria are getting some or a lot of it.

FWIW, soy milk does have a lot of N and P in it.

It's hard to know if his tank looks nice becase of it, or in spite of it. :D

i think it would be tough to tell if the milk and honey are actually his key to success or just something recently started and hasnt seen the negative effects yet.

i thought though it was an interesting read and things like this do lead to new ideas :)

if i could afford another test tank i would probably try it out lol but i enjoy being in a relationship so.......

with that said.......it was a " sweet " read wasnt it lol

I mean infant formula also has tons of nutrients. ? Is there anything about the soy milk vs other nutrition?

If you want nutrients then breast milk is what your looking for... If you would like to try it I can send you some of the frozen packs of breast milk. My 9 month old daughter might not appreciate it!

Well. 2 thoughts. Maybe I'll be test rat lab for the milk thing. It won't be in same sysytem but I can do constant water changes moving over water. The other thing was breast milk. Ya of course. Maybe I can't try that too lol. How different is breats milk from infant formula. Like nsw is to synthetic or way bigger?

I'm assuming the honey will act like any other sugar carbon source. My LFS puts sugar water in his tanks when his nitrates creep up.

The honey is a carbon source ,primarily saccharides( sugare comopunds) but it also has a few other things for better ,worse or of insignificant consequence in small amounts such as organic acids inlcluding some small amounts ammino acids;from Wikepedia:

"Honey can contain up to 18 of the 20 amino acids. However, amino acid content is almost negligible in honey, accounting for only 0.05–0.1% of the composition. The main amino acid is proline. Amino acids are derived almost solely from the bodies of the bees."
