Wow. I've bought 2 sumps from john and never had a issue. What happened?

I have ordered several custom sumps and tanks from them and never had any issues. When ordering custom order work I always expect delays, so whatever I'm ordering, I order way ahead time. There was a delay in one of my order but it didn't' bother me, since I was in no rush. Most orders were ready ahead of their estimate schedule. It would help if you share you experience in detail.

Not surprising but the more details, the more foundation you have for your argument. There are a lot of Advanced Acrylic fans here and they'll protect his name as much as possible so the more evidence your have for you claim the less likely the AA fans will come at you.

I had a problem with him on my first tank... my glass tank cracked I ordered a tank with him and he delivered without any plumbing that I previously told him I needed and it leaked all over my living room (I had to transfer without test because my glass tank was cracking).
After that he fixed it, we talked and the last tank I ordered was all good, with a just bit of delay... if it helps, tell him you are going to his office haha thats what I did! But tank quality is really really amazing!

I used to be a big fan and advocate of his work. I've ordered plenty of tanks and sumps from him. I will never buy from him again. My first few items from him were nice and professional looking and arrived on time, the last tank I ordered from him, he made me wait in the car for 3+ hours with my kids telling me it'll be done in 15 mins multiple times. When I got my tank, the seams had tons of bubbles and he blamed it on the "weather". I also paid for a custom top cover and after 2 months of asking, he "refunded" my money for the custom lid telling me that it was "too hard for him to make". Hope this helps and for those who say "dont pay him in full if you want your items in time" think about it. Is that a company that you would back even if he's ripping off the other 80% of people?
I understand but there really aren't more details other than what I stated. I've noticed that he deletes comments from people with the same complaints on his facebook, yelp and instagram and asks those who post in forums about similar instances to delete their posts once they receive their orders. I've personally seen this. Bottom line is that if its going to take 4 months just say 4 months. Under-promise and over-deliver.

I’ve purchased two sumps, one large tank, stand and canopy from John. I’ve also had a tank refinished by AA. It should be noted that I paid cash upfront. John was very professional and completed quality work as promised. I will definitely go to AA for another tank and will buy with confidence.

If it makes you feel any better, you will eventually get it.
The pattern of delays caused by full payment may be pointing to a cash flow problem.
