Hello, I am have a clown/nem tank that is maturing at the momment.( I mean no fish, just a few hemits and margarita snails)I plan on getting a clown pair and host anemone around Jan.-Feb..
Some questions:
1. Its a 40 bdr. What anemone can I keep due to the smallish size of the tank. (not getting any corals) I would like a carpet but I know they get large and I know I can keep BTAs.

2. I am debating which lighting to get. T5s or MH or combo? I have been looking at the 6 lamp Tek, Maristar MH-T5 combo, and an Ocean light 250 pendant.

Thanks for the advice.

I think bubble anemones would be your best bet. You could try other species but I think you may be pushing it with other species. You would have to keep in mind that other anemones like the Long tentacle, Haddoni etc. get very large and will dominate the whole tank.

2). I think you would be happy either way with T-5 or metal halide.
I don't think you would want a 250 over a 40 Bdr because it wouldn't light the tank evenly and would be too strong in the center. I think dual 175 metal halides may be better.
A 6 lamp t-5 fixture would light the tank ver well. I don't think you would be dissaopointed either way.

I have a bubble tip in a bow front 45 gallon... it reached 16 inches before it split 3 ways . I kept 1. Its already about 8 inches. it dominates more than 1/2 my tank. Not a problem for you if your not keeping corals, but for me Its insane.

I have 1 250 watt mh pendent, its really bright. Id go with 2 175 mhs most likely. Im just not into t5s as much

Thanks for the advice.

I will go with a rbta for my current tank and will look into the 175 MH vs. T5.

I will wait to try my hand at a carpet unitl I get my 75G set up later next fall.

Thanks again.
