After Copper Observation Period

My African Yellow Belly Hippo Tang finished Cupramine treatment 10 days ago after being diagnosed with ICH. I treated him with Cupramine for 30 days at 5ppm. So now I am wondering how long I should wait before putting him the display. He has shown no signs of the disease since copper treatment started.

No magic formula, I always wait 2 weeks after copper, assuming there's no leftover symptoms of ich and he's eating well.

Very nervouse about adding her. Have you ever treated with copper and added the fish only to find out the fish still had ich? This is what worries me. I did know this going in though. I knew most hippos would need copper and tried to prepare for that.

Has all the copper been removed from the QT? Having him in 100% copper free water for the next 2 weeks will increase the likelihood of you seeing symptoms (if he still has Ich).

I still have small reading of copper . I did 2x 50 percent water changes and changed the filter pad but its still showing a reading. I ran carbon for a week and still showing. I figured a light reading could help more than Hirt I guess. But copper kills a 3.5ppm so I don't know. Thoughts?

A regular filter pad won't remove carbon. The specific brand Poly-Filter" will. Good carbon will eliminate it, cheap carbon wont. Good carbon has a uniform size and dull appearance; cheap carbon is shiny and irregular shaped. All that said; I really like Cuprisorb, does a great job on copper, tells you when its exhausted, and is easily re-charged. I assume you don't have rock or substrate in the QT; they will absorb & release copper. But with the WCs, you almost have to be below .30 ppm of copper.

Yea, I am around .015. Gonna change out some more water tonight. I dont think I can get a zero reading till I take the tank down and rinse it out.
Also, how do you recommend transferring the fish to the DT with out getting a little bit of copper water in the DT. This seems a bit hairy :)

A few drops of water with copper at .015 isn't going to hurt anything. I.O., and I assume all salt mixes have a bit of copper. Rinse the fish in the net with DT water if you need too. I know
some corals are sensitive to almost any level of copper; but these tiny numbers are really insignificant, don't worry about a few drops of water.

copper in natural seawater is 0.25 ppb, running carbon or product like cuprisorb can take any amount of copper out of the system but few drops is not at all a concern to me.

So my hippo has been in observation for almost 3 weeks now and I would like to add him to the DT. However my copper levels is qt are still detectable at about .15 . The fish has no spots since May 21 when treatment started. I feel it has been successful in eradicating ich from him. Do you think it's safe to add him even though I can't get the copper levels down? Can a very low copper reading show false treatment results?
