Question regarding the white settings..
I'm running my blues at 80, uv at 50 , violet 50, red and greens at 20 and whites at 15-20
If I bring my whites up past 20... All of my corals, soft and sticks, look very washed out...
I'm surprised at how many settings I see at 45-60
Are my corals just naturally washed out and I can't ell because I have the whites so low, or will increasing the whites gradually actually color the corals up? Does white light actually promote growth?
Nothing against you but i feel the same when i see your settings lol. I have two lights over my 90gal, mounted 9" awl and in a "V" shape(see pics). When i enter your settings in my tank is pretty dim and blue as well.
When i talked to AI they told me my settings were great, although ive heard a few people say the same, meaning they have said that others have great settings too. Although, after they saw my settings the only recommendation they had were to slowly raise the whites as high as possible without ill effects. When i talked to them my whites where at 65%. Ive gone up about 1% every couple days since.
And now, currently as of today my settings are...
W - 74
V - 75
R - 35
G - 35
B - 95
R - 95
U - 75

Only thing that may make a difference is that i have a lot of surface aggitation. Maybe that knocks the light down some. Dont get me wrong, its bright, helps its in-wall so i dont have to stare at stray light. Cant tell if changing to reef chili for food, or the hydras for light, or both, but ive been getting decent growth fairly quickly.
Hard to say i guess, ive never used a par meter or anything to check. In early stages, couple months ago, i did shift around a few corals to help with the light change/upgrade. Now that everyone hasnt been touched since, they are all happy...or seem like it.
"From above"
From behind the wall/tank. And yes i have a V1 and V2 hydra lol.
Reason for mounting as a "V" shape, to follow the aquascape pattern
Im confused, LOL
