AI Hydra Settings Thread

Talked to Justin from AI and he said it is completely normal for a faint buzzing sound to come from the hydra. Anyone hear what I'm hearing?

Can someone chime in & help me with settings. I'm trying to get enough light to the clam 1/2 way up & not bleach my LPS

40 Breeder, lights are hung 14 inches above the water

Right now I have the following settings, but I'd like to increase them a little. If someone can give me an idea of max settings I'll bump them up 1 % a day

Red & Green at 30
White & UV at 40
Everything else at 45

Clam & coral look good, I'm already getting growth on the LPS. Thanks!

one or two lights?

Three new Hydras on my 150.... Awesome!!!

The preset is at 80% for the LED's. If I use coral acclimation at 50%, will the output be a net 40% at the start?

I want to be sure I am not going to hurt the SPS.

looking for suggestions on light setup. I have five units over a 140 thats 6'long 20"w and a water depth of 18". i turned things down but think my lps still may be not 100% happy. having a hard time getting them tuned just right. want to have a mixed reef in the long run bein mainly lps,sps and zoas

wow 5 hydras seem like a lot of lights over 6ft 140 i have a 5 foot 150 with 3 and all corals doing great an no dead spots with lights 10 inches off top of water

Sounds like nexusnight might be covering every spot possible, but yes seems like over kill on a tank with those dimensions. Just read through this thread and you can come up with something that works for you, then reduce it by 20%...lol

lol thanks, maybe ill give my current settings which i have turned down already from previous,

maybe too much uv still? or too much everything lol. I do have awesome coverage and lights are 12" off the water.

Nexus those look fine, especially if your corals are doing well. Just watch each coral closely, maybe take a baseline photo to confirm its either growing or having ill effects.

What kind of lighting are you coming from?

none ive had these setup for almost three months now. i did acclimate over the first month and then everything goes in on the sandbed.
Has anyone had a par meter on these?
Also wondering if we can get some tank shots here to go with the results.

tweekda whats ur settings?, maybe i should take down two and see if I can get better results?

mine will be at these in a week after the coral acclimation is done but its pretty close to these anyways right now

UV 75... on at 75 for 4.5 hours ramps from 60 to 75 for 1.5 hours then back down to 60 for 1.5 hours

if i had 4 or five like you id think my settings would be a little higher but all my corals are out more now then ever before with my t-5 10-bulb setup

i turned my rb to 60 and turned down the uv to 40. stuff even on the sb gets fade kinda bleached. bought a scoly two weeks ago and noticed in the last couple day the where it was in full light on the sand its bleaching. i moved to full shade needless to say. these lights are soooo powerfull!!!
tweekda how long have u been using ur hydras and can we get a fts?

Looks awesome gregrocks, can you post a shot of your top left corner on those Montis? I want to see how they are up the there.

i have had them now for 1 month now, so still hard to really say coral wise, but my lps corals have stretched out little more since I've switched. and the only coral that not out all the way is my pagoda cup but never was out all the way before and no bleaching found anywhere. i think coming from the 10 bulb t-5 setup the corals may be used to a decent amount of light. i will post some pics but my phone doesn't do a great job at all. I'm going to try to borrow a good camera and take some photos, i just picked up a nice aust. gold torch yesterday and man does it pop with these led's.
