That looks awesome! Is that one whole colony? Did you attach the entire rock? And to keep on target with the thread, how much growth was under the hydras? I have a red Monti that has tripled in 5 months.

It all started as quarter size frags of the red and green. 20% of it's life was under the AI nano, 30% under AI sols and the rest hydras. Purple was added a few months ago and has really started taking off.

All the small frags on the right side have been growing substantially. All the edges are curling up and growing like weeds! Love em and love these lights

Do you think having the hydra's gave it that much better color?

100%!! The purple rim around the green didn't exist w the nano or sol blues. Only w the hydras. And the growth has been much faster

director not working

director not working

I won a Hydra and Director last month at my local reef club meeting. Prior to winning the Hydra I was running Kessil A360w. I loved the Kessil although I dont own an apex so controlling the light was limited to a timer and fine tuning the knobs to my liking. The lights are both full spectrum and run at about the same wattage. I liked the idea of the director so the Kessil came down and I have been running the Hydra. I love the color, my corals are not melting and the Director software is awesome. That is until last week. Since Day one the Director has given me error messages "something went wrong malformed data " or "something went wrong unable to communicate with director" That would go away and did not seem to have any affect on the light. I have had to do a factory reset a couple times to get the error messages to go away. Fast forward to last week. Now my director will will no longer connect to my wi fi. Light turns green for a nano second then red. I have tried everything factory reset, messing with my modem settings nothing works. I have moved it close to the light close to the modem changed the channel all with the same result. NOT WORKING! The Director is now tethered to my modem via ethernet cable it works for about 6 hours. After 6 hours light shuts off and my date and time is now 4am November29th. ***? I have to put in the date and time twice a day to keep the light working. Has anyone else had this issue?

yes i have had many issues almost the same as yours, after going back and forth emailing ai support, which they are very good, finally got my director to update and since then for 2 weeks now i have only had an issue with my director light going out completely and i email support and they said yes that a cable issue that they were running into so there sending me one. but i haven't had issues with using the director like before i could only get it to stay connected for like a few hours maybe before i had to power cycle it and wait for the green light to come back on. try getting the green light on sign into the director page and once it loads up immediately hit refresh web page and hopefully an update comes up for you.

Can someone chime in & help me with settings. I'm trying to get enough light to the clam 1/2 way up & not bleach my LPS

40 Breeder, lights are hung 14 inches above the water

Right now I have the following settings, but I'd like to increase them a little. If someone can give me an idea of max settings I'll bump them up 1 % a day

Red & Green at 30
White & UV at 40
Everything else at 45

Clam & coral look good, I'm already getting growth on the LPS. Thanks!

I only have one light on the tank, thanks

to me it looks like a lot of red/green, Also I would raise the blue's but leave the white's where they are. I think the clam should be OK with the settings that you have your tank is shallow. you can't give the to much PAR I think they can take 6000 PAR.

Any one out there know if an AI sol would work ok for the sump / refugium? It is a blue. the refug is small 12"x15". can get it for the same price as an AI nano.

Just had an unplanned battery pack test on my director. Wife was dusting and accidentally unplugged an energizer battery pack at about 1:30 pm. At 9:30 director lost power.

Thanks Mike, I've already lowered the red & green before I saw this. I think they're at 20 or 25. Everything else will be up 3% tomorrow am.

Unfortunately I lost the clam :( Think I may have put them in too soon. The goal is to get the lighting at a good number for the LPS without bleaching before I try another one.

Question regarding the white settings..

I'm running my blues at 80, uv at 50 , violet 50, red and greens at 20 and whites at 15-20

If I bring my whites up past 20... All of my corals, soft and sticks, look very washed out...

I'm surprised at how many settings I see at 45-60

Are my corals just naturally washed out and I can't ell because I have the whites so low, or will increasing the whites gradually actually color the corals up? Does white light actually promote growth?
