AI Hydra Settings Thread

Update...
2nd day without hydras...
Buddy brought over some gen 3 radions.
I hooked up 1 g3 pro and that's it for my 36x18x24

All I can say is bravo! It's so crazy how it looks compared to the hydras.. And I had little algea on my glass.

I think I may make the switch

The water for some reason looks clearer.. I know that might sound weird, but it could be the tir lenses.

I'll keep you guys updated... Again, I'm not dogging the hydras, and because I've been part of this thread from the beginning... I thought I owed it to you guys to update you. I think we all are running the hydras too high

thanks Twostepper, good feedback keep it coming. hard to believe that it would make that much difference! I think they are the same exact LED's.

Maybe we are running to much power for the rest of the corrals but good for SPS.

I do agree with you McGee going on about a week now since i lowered everything and all my LPS still out now fully extended, my SPS just stayed the same extended polyps when i lowered. my strings now are

w 30%
v 38%
g 13%
r 11%
db 80%
rb 75%
uv 35%

Just a small update, zoa rock is almost completely covered. This was a freebie on a 1" branch that I attached to the rock about 6 months ago. It's been sitting on the sand bed since day one under the first puck of the first hydra so it's been growing towards the center of the lights until yesterday when I rearranged some rocks and placed under the first puck of the second hydra.

What size Tank are you running?

Standard 24 inch deep

Ah Ok just trying to see my Frag Tank is only 10" Deep but 9in from the waterline down. Just trying to see the intensity to use on my Tank I was trying to use your settings but it may be too high for this tank my Acros bleached out. I have both of my lights 14" off the water line- just trying to get the right intensity and dial them in.... Not sure if you can help with that. My tank is a 36"X24"X 10" Frag system

I would say less than 50% max on blues and uv, and maybe 15% for whites as a starting point and adjust accordingly based on corals

I've been having an issue w one of my hydras. (upgrade kit from Sol blue) been in contact w AI the whole time and they're sending me a new one! The coloring was off by a little bit and even w new motherboards (couldn't get it to sync w the controller) it didn't work. So I get a new one! Great costumer service!! Hoping this solves it. Not a big diff but still, noticeable to me

Yes I was a big vertex led supporter. I have made the switch to hydra
I am totally impressed its only been 4 days, my sps and lps are also looking amazing.
I am playing around with the settings and want to hear from others on your uv settings. I am acclimating at 45%
I didnt have uv or red and green in my vertex leds anyone have issues with those colours.

I am using the director also, didn't realize it was still in beta stage
does have some real cool controls, but not as advertised imo - hope they keep developing it - not like vertex on there controler lol

Welcome! It looks like much over 15% on the red and green grows algae
IMO go slow on the UV i am starting to think that we can give the corals as much or more UV than in the ocean and in my case when I backed off on the UV my corals opened up more.
