AI Hydra Settings Thread

So I have a shallow 75 gallon starfire tank (60x24x12) and really need some help at figuring out the best settings for my Hydras. I have three Hydras 13" above the water on a tank that is only 12" deep. I have the AI Director, what settings (and what region should I use since they arent the same options as my new controller had) should I have the colors at with what ramp times? I like a more blue look and it is a mixed reef.

Thank you for anyones help that has more experience then I do on these lights.

You can set any region you like, if you read back through the thread you will find a few posts about setting the region and adjusting the timezone to match yours.

The lighting intensity is different for each and every tank as no two tanks have the exact same rock structure or corals. That being said you will need to pick a starting point and watch your corals closely, then adjust the intensities accordingly. Since you prefer a bluer look I would say blues about 75% white 20% uv 30 red 3 green 5 violet 30. Those are just baseline numbers. Depending on your rocks and corals you might need to go up or down on some. Hope this helps

Sonic, that's a lot of power for a 12"deep tank maybe start slow and work up to your numbers?

Oh snap!, good catch, not sure why i was thinking since it was a 75 it was 24" deep, just noticed it was 12 deep by 24 wide.. probably cut my numbers in half and go up from there...lol so sorry

I wish ai would just use something like this to automatically adjust the lunar with the sunrise.

Yea I'm obsessed with weather. ..

that would be cool - but lets first get the andriod app and sweeping clouds and kelvin temp first please with the director :frog:

Hi everyone, been reading this thread for the last few days trying to work out the best settings for my 24x24x24 cube and there is some great info ( thanks to everyone who takes the time to post ) Just a couple of things I wanted to mention, as this is my first set of LED's
I can't believe there isn't more info from the manufacturers on basic settings? I understand that everyone's tanks are different but a starting point for different sizes of tanks and different types of corals would be a big help I previously had T5's and the biggest difference I can see is the at the moment is the overall blue/ purple ness of the color compared to the T5's. I had excellent growth of corals under my T5's and would just like to replicate the color but that is impossible without turning the Whites up to at least 50% and it seems everyone has had bad results at that level? Here's my settings , lights 8" above tank. Mixture of LPS and soft corals. Only had the lights for 3 weeks but nothing is fully out yet. any thoughts or suggestions would be a great help.

30 UV
30 V
35 W
12 R
12 G
80 VDB
80DB

Thanks
Simon.

Hey Simon welcome to the thread lol. Imo your settings are a tad bit high, but then again that's speaking from my tank that has about the same dimensions as yours. I think you should consider running those blues lower for a while. Trust me, I have fried several sps when I had settings above 60. If you don't want to compromise you color, then run acclimation mode at say 40% for a bit and see if it works. GL

weird thing happened last night. My power went out for about 2 mins and I guess is f up the setting on director because when I logged in this morning the time and date had reset to factory and my settings were jacked. is this normal and to be expected ??

i assume your using the director - I personally have not experienced a power outage. But I have disconnected my lights - no settings were changed. Maybe the director being disconnected might have reset the settings.

I use a battery backup on all my electronics just so that I minimize the chance of something like that happening.
